lol how/why would it snap and break the windshield?

Lived in WI for over 20 years and have never done this. Just let your car warm up for 15-20 minutes with the defroster on. That will melt any ice on the wipers.

Yes. Particularly for ice or wet snow.
No, but it can degrade the wiper blade pretty quickly.

i meant the wipers, not windshield. my fault.

Yes, they won't freeze to your windshield and stay ice free for the most part.

Just throw some boiling water on your windshield. Boom. Problem solved!

Of course. Do it before it comes down hard. They freeze to the window you can't use them if needed.

If you lift them you can be done in 10 minutes.
You live in colder weather than I deal with but I can be on my way faster.
Time is money.

You can’t or shouldn’t use them until your windshield is completely free of ice unless you want to buy a new pair of blades.

Defroster will thaw it all out.

Sounds much easier and cheaper than taking 3 seconds to pop up and down wipers. Lol.
In MT I flip them up if skiing all day and there’s a storm brewing. I don’t really want to sit and wait for them to thaw. And it’s a lot easier to clean off the snow.

What about putting a towel or blanket over your windshield. I've always done this with frost and it works great.

We do up here. Keeps the blade from getting frozen to the windshield (where they’ll often rip). We had just under a foot of snow two weeks ago and it didn’t damage the wiper.

You really should.
Frankly, I don't know why people don't do this.

Always good to have your car warm up in cold weather too. Two birds, one stone.

Yep, keeps the blade smooth and it's easier to scrape the windshield if you have to. Like most said, turn the defrost on and that's probably enough.

Remote start is a blessing on cold winter mornings and hot summer afternoons.
