Commanders dress code

Was there yesterday. I was wearing a sport coat and slacks and was better dressed than most of the people there. Several people were wearing sneakers. At least there weren't any jeans

Nice sneakers look better than those awful Payless slip ons that a lot of people call dress shoes

I'm with you on this. There are certain times/places where some formality is still required and this is one of them.
It's a special occasion restaurant - people celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, whatever - don't dress like you are going to an NBA game.
If you don't respect yourself enough to not be the worst dressed person in the room - do it for others.
