I’ve been looking for a jacket for bow hunting from a saddle, and finally found one I like, and figured I’d share it with yall. The main thing I wanted was high chest pockets to put my hands in, that are out of the way of my bridge and my belt. Sitka’s duck oven jacket has the pockets I want, but the material is loud for bow hunting. I emailed Sitka last year to pitch the idea of a similar jacket, but with quieter material. They responded that they had no plans of making one.
I found one this year that I bought and I like. I’ll link it. They have a few patterns. I went with disruption, it looks like sitkas elevated 2, but with a little more brown in it. I’ll post a side by side picture for reference.

I love the Huntworth Tarnen pattern.

I bought the Ketchikan jacket a few years ago and it's super warm. I wear it for every cold hunt.

How big a boy are ya?

I’m interested in a saddle for Kansas, but I’m not a gymnast. Just not sure if I would enjoy long sits in a saddle.

Not OP, but I’m 6’2 220, and I continuously fall asleep in mine. They’re pretty comfortable.

Might be different if you’re an overweight fella, but just so you have some guidance l.

I've heard good things about the Huntworth clothing. Wish I'd known about this jacket before I bought what I'm currently using.

I usually layer so that I can keep from getting sweaty while climbing/walking in. I currently use a First Lite Phase (windproof, no insulation) over a merino base layer and a down jacket. The down only weighs around 10 ozs so it's easy to pack in then put on in the stand. This keeps me toasty down to 25 degrees, haven't tried it colder than that.

I’m a smaller fella, about 5’7 165. I use a regular size latitude method 2, but they make an XL for the bigger guys. Also, buzzard roost will make a saddle to fit your needs. Definitely go with a 2 panel. Today is my 60th day in the woods, and I’ve put around this many days in the woods the past few seasons. I’d say 95+% of my hunts are in a saddle. Sometimes I sit the ground with my rifle but it’s very rare. Comfortability is no issue. I could sit in it all day, no problem. It’s not “summit climber” comfortable, but I’d never choose to pack a climber over my sticks and platform.

What down do you have and is it too noisy for bow hunting?

Eddie Bauer Down Jacket

It's not loud when under a jacket. It's pretty freakin' warm for how light/cheap it is.

This is why I like FL “link system” with their bibs and jackets. They have a chest zipper in the jacket that allows you to access the chest pockets on the bib.

I have the Catalyst and Solitude sets. Haven’t felt the need to upgrade to their new sets.

I bought the set up for it and tried it a couple times, but I just can’t make myself like it. It was a little better with 1 tethrd one stick and my platform, but it’s just more of a pain than 4 sticks to me.
Have you seen hunt arsenals new “solo stick” though? It looks to be badass for the 1 stick guys.

OK, just tried three saddles at B&B archery in Pearl, MS. I’ll definitely have a system by next fall.

If my son wants to go hunting this weekend I plan to stop in Hammond and check out the Buzzard Roost saddles. I would like to get one before going to Kentucky this fall.

How tall are you? 4 sticks are easier but I had hell getting higher than 15' with my winter clothing on, even with aiders. I'm a short fricker. It seemed like I'd always need one more stick to get up into the cover I wanted to be in. Single stick, rope, and platform lets me get however high I want.

I saw that one, I'm curious about how much it'll be. I have the Arsenal RZR and it's awesome.

I got one at Christmas and have really liked it the 3 hunts I've been able to make with it.

I saw on their instagram the other day that they're coming out with a new one this spring. Doesn't look like he made a ton of changes but it's still a new design

quote:

New Features:

5 inch Backband for more back support
Floating Belt with new lighter buckle
Cobra Buckles are now standard on ALL saddles
Slight design change on bottom panel
New easier to use thumb loops

The "old" saddle is on sale on the website for $210 vs $272 for the new one
