Shouldn’t “preemptive’ pardons be unconstitutional?

What’s to prevent a sitting President to hire someone to conduct criminal activities and assure them they will get a preemptive pardon just in case they get investigated later and possibly convicted.

This seems WILDLY unconstitutional.

Uh...if the crime was already committed, how is it "preemptive"?

There is no limitation in the Constitution that the pardon power arises once an investigation begins.

What was stupid about what I said?

Hell, how could you even imply any partisanship (or "side picking") in what I said?

My comment was objective and apolitical

Elon should fund civil suits against these arse clowns in conservative states. Subpoena their depositions then arrest them for state crimes. LFG. Everyone deserves their day in court.

Maybe. But there is precedent for this. Ford famously pardoned Nixon for the whole Watergate fiasco.

This is how they kick off the banana republic doings. We must get the next few terms of presidency after what Biden’s regime did as you could expect the next dem president to destruct again and go after republicans even harder.

They are constitutional until challenged to prove they are unconstitutional. This will be challenged. At least Biden directly pointed the finger at those who he knows committed crimes.

It’s an interesting expenditure of political capital to say the least.
