Spinoff: doctors office wait- New doctors office trend, no insurance accepted

I found out a few days ago I have a new assigned dr because my Doc moved on to her own office - no insurance, by patient membership ,over 55 is $105, under is $85,can use insurance for drugs if you'd like or if she can't get the drugs for some reason,no copay,
Never heard of this before. On ssi I can't afford to stay with her at membership cost. Anyone else heard of this ? Plus', negatives? Is this the future model?

That happened a LOT when the ACA was passed. It's basically just a doctor hanging up their own shingle and avoiding all the bullshite that comes along with insurance.

no insurance
I assume you meant HC insurance, pretty sure she's got malpractice insurance.

Is that per month or a one time fee?

it was annoying calling around trying to find a new PCP
they either weren’t accepting new patients, accepting new patients but “new patient” appointments are more than 3 months out, or their model had switched to membership and you had to pay to join to be able to be scheduled
the whole model is inefficient, outdated and broken
dial…wait for grump old lady to answer…ask if they are accepting new patients…ask if they take insurance…ask when the next appointment is and have to listen to her ramble off dates and times way in the future while I click through my calendar. even after getting one, calling and asking to get referred and they have to still literally fax documents around and make it impossible to see your own reports. it’s all just extremely outdated way of doing business
how hard would it be to have a doctors office with online appointment scheduling, accurate appointment hours online, easy portal to email/message the doctors and nurses, have documents/notes uploaded, ability to teledoc for simple updates and follow ups, etc?

Doctors are glorified street drug dealers. Don’t go unless you are having a major issue, and in that case, go to Urgent Care or Emergency Room.
Zero positive reason to go to a routine doctors office. That’s Pharma’s biggest target. I’m a positive person 100% of the time, until it comes to basic doctors.

We were lucky to get referred to IMO, the best PCP in Lake Charles. Home Doc won't just take anybody, strong conservative family man and even came saw my kids while we were in the hospital. Does rounds himself- old school.
Big, big fan.

‘Street doctors’ misdiagnose 73% of the time. Don’t be a science experiment.

You’re in luck. In 10 years, only very wealthy people will be able to see a doctor. You will get the nurse practitioner or PA. Hope they can help you!

Cool don’t become aware of prediabetes or high cholesterol or high blood pressure or any other array of preventable health conditions

I’m glad you’re doing well. Just personal opinion, doctors tend to have people get on medications or have surgeries they don’t really need or would be fine without to the tune of 70% misdiagnosed. Sort of like Jiffy Lube telling you all the ‘flushes’ your car needs. My Tundra is just fine 220,000 miles later with just an oil change.
Everyone’s situation is different. Not judging or saying otherwise.

I think OP is talking more about concierge service doctors. I don't see therapist doing this as much as they are just going straight up private pay per session because dealing with insurance is seven levels of frickery.

So who do you call for that finger up the butt thingy?
Or do you just stick with the free ones?

Good man. Tried several times for reinstatement. Misunderstood. I’m a nephew of his posting in his memory. Do not like or won’t repeat his antics.
