It'd be crazy if we had one of each of those and neither are playing for the rest of the year.

Almost like a decent team was put together by the coach (still need a lead guard).

Zero development from McMahon and he doesn’t put them in position to be great

What just stumps me about MM this is a division 1 college coach and he can't figure out what he's doing isn't working, yet he stays with it as they continue to have 20 turnovers a game, run no offensive half court sets, play undisciplined, don't rebound as well as they should, yet doesn't try to change anything, can't one of his assistant coaches say look this isn't working were getting beat by 10 to 20 pts every time out we have to change things now,at this point what does it matter if it doesn't work so what doing things like there doing them now means about 14 to 15 league losses!

Cam Carter is one of the best players we’ve had in recent years. You don’t score 18 a game for a coach with no offensive scheme in the SEC by just being a guy. His skill set and efficiency are also excellent so it isn’t a matter of volume shots producing the numbers either. He’s just a very good CBB player.

i been preaching this for 3 years.

But the McMahon faithful has said we have as much talent as the rest of the league that it's 100% coaching

I would complain more about no penetration to kick out and shoot or drive to the basket.

I agree, I was thinking that last night and commented in another thread about not having good finishers at the rim on this team. There isn't enough physicality in these guys and there are some guys that are just limited in their skillset. Need a bigger PG and that factors in more on defensive side of the ball. They need a lot of things to truly compete for a conference championship.

Hmm, this sounds a lot like LSUs football HC. Seems that Woody likes coaches that have the unwillingness to change what’s not working/or doesn’t know how to change anything.

Excluding Jay and Kim. They are great

It's an incomplete roster. It has individual pieces but it's constructed this way because when you're desperate you're taking the best you can get and not picking and choosing players that en hance the structure of your roster.

Look at football for example. This year in the portal they are getting players that strategically enhance the roster.

I think the basketball team unfortunately, at this point does not have that luxury. They got the best players they could get in the portal and they don't fit.

Haven't had a real PG since Javonte Smart. These small guards won't cut it. Off the bench? Sure, but not 35 minute per game contributors. The winds are long and athletic but rail thin with no offense game. Not a good recipe

I'll personally give him one more year with the recruiting class coming in. If he can't get to the tourney next year, he's gotta go.

Unfortunately, my opinion doesn't matter

same this applied to Les in the 1/9/12 game. Zero changes.

Coaches get paid millions of dollars. Don't they meet every day with their assistant coaches to assess every aspect of the program, see what's working and what isn't, and make the appropriate changes?

We can all see it's not working, so try something different.

Unfortunately there are a few difference makers, but the difference they make tends to be negative.

I have no faith right now that if CoachMc was handed the most talented SEC squad, that he would coach us to top half of SEC.

He brought KJ year one and LSU was projected middle of the pack SEC and ended up 2-16.

Woody gave him a long term fully guaranteed deal. My guess is he is here to stay another few seasons. They don’t want to pay a buyout when they need all that money for football.

Once we get past our general lack of toughness the last 2 plus years which I think is the base issue that links to all others - the pure coaching issues for me with CMM is who he plays, and when and how much and also as you emphasize above, he does not try to change anything.

We absolutely suck at half court offense so why not do things on the other side of the court to generate offense off defense? Do some pressing, trapping the ball screen, half court traps, and push the ball more to get early offense since we really struggle to run half court sets.

I mean if really watched the first half and why we were tied at half Saturday, we hit 3 really difficult contested 3's that honestly should not have been taken and also Sears gets fouled twice shooting threes and makes 6 free throws. That's half our points in the first half on ill-advised shots. That's how much we struggle on half court offense.
