Spoilers in the replies

Jesse Eisenberg directed and stars alongside Kieran Culkin in this buddy road comedy/drama. Culkin won the Golden Globe for Supporting Actor and has a good chance at the Oscar from what I’ve read. I didn’t get to see it in theaters and was pleasantly surprised to see on streaming today. Will check it out this weekend.

quote:

Mismatched cousins David and Benji tour Poland to honour their grandmother. Their adventure becomes complicated as old tensions resurface while exploring their family history.

Looks ok. It's hard to get past not just one, but two actors that talk really fast and mumble all their lines

Rented it at home last weekend. I thought it was excellent. Acting was top notch. Story was tight. Solid 8/10 for me.

It’s really good. Both Eisenberg and Culkin are great.

Its great, its my #2 film of the year and Culkin should win the Oscar. Great performance by Eisenberg as well.

Culkin is kind of just playing Roman again, but Jewish this time.

I thought the same thing. I wonder if that is his real personality and he just fits certain characters

I liked this movie but I feel like it had no point or purpose. It kind of meanders aimlessly and the big reveal was that the Culkin character tried to kill himself by ODing on sleeping pills then continued to meander aimlessly to the finish line

Then don’t watch it.

I agree. It was hard for me to watch such an unlikeable character. Like Diane from Cheers or Beth from Yellowstone.

It was about the journey, not the destination.

Fantastic performances from both guys.

Not for those who only like movies with a plot and some sort of conclusion. This is like Lost in Translation. It's about relationships and inner turmoil and that kind of shite.

Really enjoyed. Hilarious at times, sad at times. Interesting setting. Supporting cast was good. Probably hits harder for people who've had people like Benji in their lives.
