The Houston Housing Authority is embroiled in another scandal involving the misappropriation of taxpayer dollars that officials used for workplace parties, massages, upscale dinners and other lavish expenses.
quote:
The investigation revealed the misused money went to miscellaneous costs, including:
--Executive team holiday dinner at Joey Uptown: $1,153.42
--Holiday Party at King Ranch Texas: $6,387.12
--Christmas Party at the Galleria: $13,546.75
--Wellness gift cards $1,401.52
--Workout Bench and Weights $2,333.87
--Steak 48: $1,254.29
--Vic & Anthony's Fellows Dinner: $1,369.64
--Chair massages at the office: $2,300
quote:
These expenses were traced to the credit card statements of five HHA employees. Since the initial findings were released, former HHA CEO and President David Northern and Strategic Advisor Na'Shon Edwards have resigned.
HHA deducted $6,500 from Edwards' final paycheck to cover his expenditures. Northern received no deductions from his final paycheck.
The employee who spent the most, Edwards, dined repeatedly at high-end restaurants, according to Davis' report. Edwards was frequently joined by his boss, Northern and LaRence Snowden, the authority's then-chairman appointed by former Mayor Sylvester Turner.
These revelations come in the wake of officials saying the authority had run out of funds to provide families with vouchers to help pay monthly rent last year in February.

I mean I don’t want to say anything but I’m predicting this thread generates at least one ban.
Sidenote: The Usual Suspects was a good movie.

Hopefully more happens to them than just this. Federal funds also involved.

When you have “public servants” who make maybe $100-$200k in salary a year living lavish lifestyles with net worths in the millions, it’s not hard to find them.

You motherfrickers know that systemic racism drove them to this.
