I have a coworker flying in for the Louisiana Marathon this weekend, so I'm driving up to Baton Rouge to meet her and show her around. We'll have Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. She wants to go to the top of the Capital and see Mike the Tiger. Can anyone suggest anything else that we can do? Unfortunately the USS Kidd is out and the Old State Capitol is temporarily closed.

There is a festival at the finish live for the race with music and food. Runners get some drink and food tickets.

LSU gym meet vs. Florida on Friday night.

You can go to Tsunami on the 5th floor of the Shaw Center, make a left and see the views without having to dine there.

There's a home LSU track meet Friday during the day if she's into that.

Show her around campus after seeing Mike and go to the OG Chimes for a pint and: boudin balls, Spinach and Artichoke dip with the pasta, blackened gator.

Don't have to get all of those apps., but all are good!

After visiting the capitol, go to the riverfront. Water is high enough she'll be able to dip her toes in the Mississippi.

If at the Capitol, the old armory is historically significant and just behind. The Huey Long assassination hallway.

LSU art exhibit at Shaw Center. Magnolia Mound just down the road.
Oak Alley and Nottoway aren’t too far.

Other great suggestions on here.

Yes and it’s a great place for visitors to learn about the history and culture of the area. Camellias in bloom now!
