it reminded me of some of those campy, goofy chop-socky films. lot's of action but not to be taken seriously

It's like they were seeing how ludicrous they could make it before losing the audience.

#4 was the first I’d ever seen, in the theater. I went back and watched #1 a year later for the first time and thought, dang, that was pretty good! What happened along the way? Now I’ve got to watch 2 and 3.

1 is amazing and is largely a meta comedy.
2 is OK. 3 was bad. I never saw 4 b/c of the progression.

It set up the funniest scene in the movie (that sets the tone the rest of the way)
