Clements spent Wednesday morning fishing in Chickasaw Creek, and for a better fishing experience, he recently purchased and installed a Garmin live scope sonar device to help him better see what’s underwater.

On his device, he noticed something shaped like a car.

quote:

Me and my dog were just fishing around and happened to pan over on the pylons and seeing something like a car,” he recounted. “So, my natural instincts, like, ooh structure. So, I started fishing it, and I was like, ‘Maybe I should report this.’”

Officials with the Mobile Police Department have released information regarding the body that was found inside of a car in the water at Brooks Park & Marina.

MPD officials said the body found in the car was that of a woman who had been reported missing in 2021.

MPD officials believe the body is of 36-year-old Helen Ward.

Original story on her missing. At least the family will have some closure.

I guess that weren’t biting too much because that guy stopped called them
And went in.

Honestly, I would have probably called them on way in. Kudos to that guy

Similar situation last year when a car was found in a creek in rural Alabama. The body was an Auburn student who had been missing since 1976.

Similar incident in central Louisiana when I was a kid. A woman just disappeared one night.
20ish years later, they found a submerged car while rebuilding a bridge. She'd driven into a creek during a heavy rainstorm.
