It seems they have a lot of haters on here. Any major negatives?

It gives your tracking dogs good training.
I doesnt kill until 1000 yards, so if you're shooting is closer than that you'll need those dogs.
You automatically grow a man bun, so its good if you're bald.

I bought my son a 6.5 creedmoor last year for Christmas. It is a fun gun to shoot, It seems to be very accurate.
He has taken it hunting a few times but every time he has shot a deer this year and last he was using my 30-06.
I know that isn't want you asked for.

As long as you scratch the caliber marking off the barrel and use unmarked brass you'll be fine. Its a good cartridge, you just don't want to let your friends know you have one

Pro
Not a lot of recoil
Ammo is cheap and everywhere with a variety of manufacturers and combinations of weights and types.
Bullets experience less wind drift and shoot flatter than cartridges with more recoil.
Cons
They make you gay, u need a dog and the bullets don’t “rise” coming out the gun to 500yd like the salesman said they would JK.
There is no con to the 6.5 creedmore and it will kill all deer just as dead as any other mainstream cartridge when placed into the vitals. The biggest gripe people have is the type of bullets that are used typically (bullets designed to open at low velo explode at high velo) and lack of blood trails on dead deer

I bought a 1st Gen Ruger American when they first came out. Hornady 143g ELDX have yet to not drop one within feet of where it was initially shot.
IST 1/9 - sitting in the stand with it right now.
For the haters

Oh boy.
Pros:
It builds character and new skills by teaching you how to track, with or without blood. Increases cardio health.
You have an excuse to get a new blood tracking dog.
FLIR and IR are now on the new hunting gear menu.
Cons:
None.

Pros: Lots of cool nicknames: 6.5 Cripplemore, 6.5 Manbun....
Cons: There's nothing magic about it, and it sure as hell doesn't live up to the hype.
It is a decent round if you use the right bullet and choose your shot. I've seen several hunters using match bullets in their 6.5CM which is a recipe for bullet failure.
One serious pro: ammo availability.

shite, y’all are kind of making me want to get one. Sounds like a bad arse truck gun for coyotes, and if I shoot a hog it will just run off and die in the woods somewhere instead of polluting my corn and bean fields.

There really isn't a lot of cons to the round. It gets hate because it basically does what it does so well that purveyors of the classic cartridges got butthurt over it. A friend of mine who is new to rifle shooting/hunting just bought a Savage Axis in 6.5CM, and while the rifle itself wasn't very pleasant to shoot it clover leafed groups with Sig Venari SP. Thing with 6.5 CM, and a lot of similar updated cartridges, is that they've arrived around the same time that companies like Ruger, CVA, Tikka, etc. started producing rifles that are well under $1000 that are legitimate sub-MOA out of the box. The curve to highly accurate and precise shooting got flattened in a hurry. It's kind of a conundrum now for someone like me who is seriously looking at another rifle and it's like do I want to go budget with a 2nd Gen Ruger American or Tikka T3x and work from there again or do I want to go more middle-of-the-road with a nicer Bergara or Sako or maybe a 2020 Waypoint or a Seekins. I don't know yet, might be another year of looking before I decide on anything.

I've never shot one but people talk about them like their a member of Nickelback.
They are the 0.25 acre bluegill pond of the gun world.

The cons are having to tell your friends and family you are gay

It’s easy to hate because it’s been marketed to dudes who struggle to hit paper at 100 yards as a 1000 yard cartridge, so when they take that gusto and a couple match bullets to the shoothouse with them the results are predictable.
