Anyone know if it is open and officially Oak Point now? Was supposed to change yesterday but I read that people were showing up and it was closed. I was by there Monday and it was still open as Calandros so I could see them needing some time to officially change everything over. I just want an Oak Point king cake!

Not sure if it is open, but we had the Cookie Butter one and also have the cream cheese overload. Grabbed them from Watson.

I heard Monday was supposed to be the closure. Then reopen on Tuesday. Plan to go there after work, so we'll see. Signs still say Calandro's.

As someone who rarely partakes in sweets/desserts I pretty much took out one of their cookie batter king cakes by myself

I doubt that it's an instantaneous switch as far as products if they were buying the inventory. They'll have to sell off Calandro lines and products before bringing in their own. I don't know if Calandro was baking king cakes. Maybe since the transfer date was so close to king cake season, they would hold off.

They are open but it’s basically Calandros with Oak Point plastic bags right now. As the person above said, they are selling off the Calandros products.

As for King Cakes, there are none. They said they will start selling the Oak Point King Cakes next week but I would probably call because I wasn’t given an exact day.

They are both AG stores so I am pretty sure that both sell "Best Choice" as their store brand. I can't think of a single Calandros or Oak Point labeled product that isn't from the bakery or deli.

As far as the official ownership changeover, that was yesterday. The Calandros signage is still on the building, but that would probably take a while to get changed over.

both AG stores

Yes, they are. But just like Alexander's or Robert's, what the store carries is different once you move past the store (AG) brands. Calandros has always positioned itself toward the higher end, especially in the areas of meat and produce.

Calandro's has been my go-to store for a few years now. Their prime steaks are the best in town, as well as their meat in general. I also like their in house italian sausage and mozzarella. I didn't see any St. Bruno's bread when i went yesterday, i hope Oak Point keeps that, and though Calandro's produce variety wasn't very expansive, the quality was better than most places. I did see mustard greens yesterday, which i've never seen in Calandro's before.

AG does not carry "Best Choice". Their brand is Food Club.

Sorry. Yeah you are right. Best Choice is carried by Rouses. I got my products mixed up.

The shop was closed Tuesday while installing Oak Point point-of-sales system. Was open Wed with an abundance of Oak Point manager types filling in bagging.

Very little change so far. The meat guys seemed to be the same. Odd that none of the Oak Point manager types smiled or said hi! Maybe keeping the old customers isn't a priority?

I also noted the lack of the excellent San Bruno breads. Hopefully they will fix that fast. There were no Lousiana sourced eggs.

Some isle clutter has been eliminated... maybe fewer wine stacks.

yesterday was my first trip ( i tried Monday but they were closed) since sale and I was greeted and spoke too more than ever

No king cakes yet

store definitly looks like it is going through the transition, with some shelves and items lacking and lots of employees figuring it out. I imagine Calandro's hadnt ordered dry good inventory recently and stretched the perishable items proceeding the sale. I know prior to the sale they have to do inventory and that was done earlier this week hence the reason it was closed.

I imagine it will take a couple weeks for this to morph back into the flow, with inventory, sales, etc..

I love the Convenience of Calandro's for me and really hope Oak Point continues (Maybe a little cheaper)

Yep. That and the pizza dough. Hoping they continue stocking fresh mozzarella too.

Said no one ever.

Dont get me wrong…I adore Oak Point. Shop there weekly. They are high af.

I know Calandros is too, but I dont believe there will be noticeably lower prices.
