Comes down to strength of schedule I think?

Saints are. Panthers won common games tiebreaker. CAR 4-8, NO 3-9.
Common games is a tiebreaker step ahead of division record.

nice, that means we jump them in the draft.

Saints still have a chance to jump them in draft order I believe as well

Depends on strength of schedule, according to this link:
NFL Operations Rules of the Draft
NFL Operations Rules of the Draft
quote:
In situations where teams finished the previous season with identical records, the determination of draft position is decided by strength of schedule — the aggregate winning percentage of a team’s opponents. The team that played the schedule with the lowest winning percentage will be awarded the higher pick.
If the teams have the same strength of schedule, division or conference tiebreakers are applied. If the divisional or conference tiebreakers are not applicable, or ties still exist between teams of different conferences, ties will be broken the following tie-breaking method:
Head-to-head, if applicable
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games (minimum of four)
Strength of victory in all games
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games
Best net points in all games
Best net touchdowns in all games
Coin toss

The draft tiebreaker is simply SOS but I think we may jump them anyway. SOS is the combine Winning percentage of your apponents

Saints currently sit at 8th. Not sure if they can jump to 6/7 if Raiders/Jets win.

This is every bit as important, if not more, than being one pick higher in the draft.

9th, they did not jump the Panthers. At least not yet. SOS will shift as all the games of a team's opponents are played.
here is how we sit right now. The unintended consequence of us losing to the Bucs and the Panthers beating the Falcons winning is it helps our SOS and hurts theirs.

It gets us the 4th place team in the divisions we don't play top to bottom

The fourth place NFC South team will play the 4th place teams in the NFC East (Giants) and North (Bears), and the AFC South (Titans). They play the entire NFC West and AFC East.
Based on rotation, Saints schedule looks like this:
HOME
Bucs, Falcons, Panthers (NFC South)
Cardinals, 49ers (NFC West)
Giants (NFC East)
Jets, Patriots (AFC East)
AWAY
Bucs, Falcons, Panthers (NFC South)
Rams, Seahawks (NFC West)
Bears (NFC North)
Bills, Dolphins (AFC East)
Titans (AFC South)

Exactly. As well as the one AFC team we draw for our 17th game.

Saints are Last Place Team ahead of schedule! I didn't have them doing that until next season !!
Way to go Saints!

It's going to be tough but I think the Saints can be in Last Place again at the end of next season, too.
I really think they can do it.
