He wasn’t benched for no reason other than his own health. He was having a rough game. MM came in and immediately drove them down the field for a TD. Smart move for a couple reasons.
1. Keep your QB healthy
2. Less game film on what he struggled with. Let him work it out at practice.

6-12 38 yards sucks for an entire half. Mariota came in and is playing well just like the game JD got hurt.

Washington is already in the playoffs. Daniels had already been sacked 4 times. They’re mitigating risks. They have games left to play. They don’t want their starting QB hurt in game 17
