CONCORDIA PARISH, La. – An animal at a deer farm in Concordia Parish has tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease. The confirmed case of CWD was announced this week by Louisiana officials, who said three cases of CWD were confirmed at deer farms in Concordia, Tangipahoa and St. Landry parishes.

The announcement came after an active case of CWD was confirmed in Jefferson Davis Parish in December 2025. These farms, which also participate in the state deer program, have been issued a quarantine restricting movement into or out of the facility, including live deer or deer products./

Not much other info than that but here is the news link:

Kinda odd they find it in 3 different deer pens? That would seem give more credibility to the thought that it has been here for a good while.

Nah, it’d give credibility to the line of thinking that CWD positive deer are getting hauled in.

High fences need to go away. Kill every deer in them and remove the fence.

I find it hard to believe that 3 different pens in different areas all managed to import cwd deer. And it has been illegal for a good while to import any deer....if they were following the rules.

If the soil and plant contamination of CWD is true then the deer should be killed but the fence stays UP.... for as long as possible

I thought u could still import deer from within the state and you could no longer bring deer in from out of state.

Has there been any confirmed cases in the no-feed zone of Tensas, Franklin and Madison this year?

It was like Tensas was a hot spot for a year, but haven’t heard much about it lately.

It’s my understanding that CWD hasn’t been found in Madison Parish. A good bit of testing has been conducted during the Tensas NWR gun hunts.

Wild deer aren’t meant to eat from feeding troughs nor are they meant to live in pens.

What did you think was going to happen when we do both? Same shite that happens to every domesticated animal

Ban both the importation and exportation of captive deer across state lines. I’ve seen enough.

OK. Maybe congregated deer concentrate the disease. Enjoy your feeders.

This idea is dead, IMO. There have been thousands of samples collected the last couple of years. The only positive results came from a hot-spot in Tensas parish.

That is not possible with widespread low level infection that you’d expect if “it has been here for a good while.”

Find a big enough high fence area and run a pack of hounds through it.... for the homeland.

Another article

Looks like The different departments are slow to communicate…

These deer farms need to be shut down. At this point you cannot claim ignorance of CWD. I am surprised the lawyers have not gotten involved. This kind of thing will destroy areas of natural resources, property values, and hunting-driven revenues (gun/outdoor stores, game processors, etc).

Can someone please list the public benefits of a deer farm that outweighs the risk of destroying a public resource?

We switched to supplemental feeding only. So we haven’t filled the feeders since the food plots came up.
