Best place to live in S North Carolina or north Georgia?

Need a relatively big town in the area of southern NC or northern Georgia.

Best I got is Athens GA. Big enough town, multiple hospitals, very close to mountains. Anything more mountainous that fits the bill for "relatively big town" will put you in Asheville NC.

I’ve literally never heard anyone say South North Carolina. That would range from the Smoky Mountains to Charlotte to the Atlantic Ocean.
If you’re talking about NC towns that are north of Georgia. That is considered Western North Carolina.
