Seahawks defensive tackle Byron Murphy II nearly had a panic attack after taking his teammates out to dinner this week ... when his fellow Seattle players ran up a whopping $155,000 tab -- all before finding out it was a hoax.

quote:

Eventually, Murphy was let in on the joke ... and was handed the REAL tab -- just over $38,000. Still not cheap, but much better than what he originally thought.

The first-round pick signed a four-year, $16 million deal with the 'Hawks ... so even though he's got some money, it's nice to know he's not $155k less rich now.

Would've been a $22,000 tip! Looks like a tad under 20% - 19.5. I can't see the booze, just curious what it was.Anybody got better eyes than me?
The fake one is at the end of the video and is clearer.

Lot of the people buying tickets make $38k a year and are struggling to buy regular groceries, but these guys have dinner for $38k. If fans are dumb enough to keep fueling these paychecks...

fans get entertained, while these players have to go perform. Equal trade.

My nieces and nephews played the game while the adults watched this holiday; was more entertaining and free. And didn't have to pay $15 a beer either.

If I was a rookie and had that bill I’d tell them all to go frick themselves, I ain’t paying that shite. I’d pay for my share and give the names of everyone else at the table and leave.
Got to be one of the stupidest traditions in sports.
