One thing people are forgetting about a vehicle terror attack on New Orleans

While the city certainly could have done more to armor the vehicle ingresses & egresses of Bourbon Street in the quarter....
If one wanted to inflict maximum damage, you would simply drive a vehicle down the middle of a parade route (perhaps the St Charles Neutral Ground) during a parade. There is literally no way to prevent vehicles from accessing these ultra high density events. It's difficult to accept, but there is truly is no way to really prevent vehicle terror in New Orleans, and probably many other big event cities.

Why would you even bring this up?

Stop giving them ideas, man.

The pot holes probably slow it down though

They've already thought of this, I'm sure.
My hope is that New Orleans and other cities around Louisiana and the rest of the south prepare in meaningful ways for it to prevent it.

A person could easily kill way more than 15 by driving into a tent or two on the parade grounds before an LSU game. There’s nothing stopping a car from getting on there.
This isn’t to say there’s nothing to do to improve, but you can think up a way to prevent 1000 different terrorist actions, but there’s always going to be someone out there working on the 1001st way to inflict mass casualties.

You could kill way more at a parade route right before a parade

Sustained public safety is an inconvenience to most levels of government. They all say they are for it, but soon afterwards get distracted into supporting & funding other needier requests such as housing illegals, funding Ukrainian military requests, handouts, etc. This state and country had better wake up. Given the level of illegals that have freely crossed the border in the past several years, the next few years will be very busy. Thank you Uncle Joe POTATUS

NOPD and the FBI have entered the chat.

Opened this thread expecting OP to say that the dude would have driven at like midnight or around there.
The fact that he did this at 3am shows willful ignorance.

All of this is true and then combine it with across the board DEI leadership, between Teedy, Chief Grammy and Special Agent nose ring, the results of which are on full display for the entire nation now, and you go to NOLA at your own risk.

A friend who is a retired FBI agent said their greatest fear was someone using a small plane to crash into a football stadium. Something like a crop duster with the spray tanks filled with gasoline. A stadium like Bryant Denny or Tiger Stadium could easily see 10,000 deaths if the plane flew into the stands, worse if the crash caused an upper deck to collapse.
