“We put a lot of time and effort into finding a way to get an extra possession and to utilize all three phases.”

Meanwhile BK sees special teams as something that happens while he’s chewing out one of his offensive players coming off the field.

We ran 2 kick offs back, and our kicker for a college kicker has been better then decent. Punt returns didn’t scare me once all season. Damn near every kickoff was a touchback. Punting was the only issue.

Yeah, people are doing four things with the current state of LSU special teams.

1. Acting as if the horrific return defense from 3 years ago is still present. LSU had solid coverage teams all year long, if the ball was even taken out because of how consistent Beurell was;
2. Completely ignoring the return game. LSU had two separate return men house kicks this year and were no. 3 in the country in KO return yards.
3. Overreacting to our 4 year starter long snapper having a horrible season, and especially remembering the A&m game as if it were every single game; and
4. LSU fans were spoiled with 4 years of Tracy/York. You now get Ramos (who isn't perfect) but statistically is better than any not York/Tracy kicker LSU's had since Alleman 13 years ago, and even that's a stretch.

Peyton Todd was the number 1 punter in his class and the La Tech kid was supposed to be good. Kind of fricked that they've both just fallen off entirely.

Kind of related....that was the slowest player I've ever seen return a kickoff for a td. Maybe he's fast and just looked slow. I don't know, but it looked like everyone was running in boots in the mud.

On the replay it looked (to me) like several of the Georgia players initially pulled up as if they expected a fair catch and then reacted too late.
