Any sidewalk cafes that stood out to you? We have some really nice places booked but looking to fill in a few spots with more laid back dining.

What arrondissement are you staying in? There are countless cafes, so that would help

I'm jumping in here. We're going in March (with a 13 year old) and staying in the 6th but really close to the 5th if anyone has some casual recs near there.

My wife and I ate at a place called Verjus several years ago and it was fantastic. It was very casual and low key when we were there. It could be a little more upscale now but it is definitely worth a look.

What neighborhood?
We will be visiting different areas throughout the trip, so I'm just looking for recommendations of places people enjoyed. They will probably fit into where we will be one of the days. We are staying in the 1st arrondissement at the Hotel du Louvre.

When I went a good number of years ago, Le Comptoir was sort of a hot spot in the casual "sidewalk cafe" category and I enjoyed a meal there.
It looks to be still open and I assume still good, even if maybe not garnering current "buzz."

Look up farmers markets in your districts. Also the Fran Prix grocery stores. A lot of the Fran Prix's in the city are underground/ in the basement and man you walk in and its like a 7/11 and then go down a set of stairs and its 10x bigger.
We had a farmers market, for lack of better terms, in the latin district next to our apartment but it was only open 3 days a week I think and it closed early. So it was only from like 8am to 2pm or so. But it was a great place to get breakfast, lunch, or a snack and almost strictly locals getting their poultry or bread or cheese or whatever for the time being.

You are staying in the 1st near Hotel du Louvre.
My favorite casual restaurant around there is Juveniles.
The Hotel du Louvre is across the Place Colette from Palais Royal. Juveniles is across the side street from the other end of Palais Royal, a very short walk. Good gourmet bistro food but not fancy and not expensive.
You asked about sidewalk cafes. I love Parisian sidewalk cafes. One of my favorites is on Place Colette, the same square the Hotel du Louvre is on. It is Cafe Nemours. We go there for drinks. I don't think they are known for great gourmet food, but it is the quintessential Parisian cafe for atmosphere.
Someone above mentioned Verjus. It is in the Palais Royal on the other side of the courtyard from the hotel. The casual part is the wine bar downstairs, but upstairs is a fancy restaurant with a set tasting menu. It is excellent.
Right across the Palais Royal colonnade from Verjus is Le Grand Vefour. It is a gorgeous restaurant that is expensive at night, but they have much more affordable lunch specials. One day we sat at Napoleon and Josephine's table and had a 3 hour lunch, but don't go there looking for casual.
If I had to give one answer for a casual restaurant in that neighborhood it would be Juveniles, but it is small, and you need reservations.

Thank you for the Verjus update. When my wife and I ate there it was kind of a tiny open air hole in the wall. I was blown away by the food even though I’m not a small plate type. I knew at some point they closed for a long period of time to remodel around Covid. I didn’t know what Verjus had become but will never forget what it was.

I will also give my answer to TigerGrl who is staying in the 6th.
I have stayed in the 6th several times, including in April 2019 when we watched the fire at Notre Dame right from the beginning. We stay near Rue de Buci in the St. Germain de Pres area . That is my favorite Arr. to stay in when I want the small neighborhood feel as opposed to the big city feel.
Some of my favorite casual places around there are Fish La Boissonnerie and Freddy's Wine Bar which are owned by the same guy and are right across the street from each other. Near the other end of the short Rue de Buci from there is La Jacobine, a casual bistro with good food.
Two excellent gourmet bistros not far from there are Le Christine, a couple of blocks from the river and Hebe' a few blocks further into the Latin Quarter. Allard is another good one.
If you are looking for elegant sidewalk cafes in the 6th., the two famous ones are Cafe de Flore and Cafe Deux Magots which are right next to each other. We go there to have drinks and to people watch, not so much to dine.
If you like caviar, I highly recommend Boutary on Rue Mazarine. It is an excellent seafood and caviar specialist. My wife thought she didn't like caviar until she went there.
We love the vibe of that area.

Having just come from Paris over Thanksgiving, I can't recommend the seafood bar at the back of the Le Enfants Du Marche enough. It was my favorite meal of the trip. Not cheap, but I'd go eat mussels and drink white wine there everyday of the week if I could.

This thread is making me crave tartare de boeuf.

Grab a bottle of wine, une baguette, and some cheese and watch the boats from l’ile St. Louis (walk down from Quai de Bourbon)

ETA: “Deux Magots” allegedly (according to the Google AI translates to “The Two Stocky Figurines from the Far East"
Irregardlessly in English it doesn’t sound comfy.
