One guy I haven't heard mentioned

on all the looking forward to next year on talk shows is probably the most athletically gifted. His name is Harold Perkins.
If Baker continues to build defense around Whit, Perk may just be the player we all thought he was going to be after his freshman season.
What a difference between him and Burns just from a talent perspective, if Perk does, in fact, play Star. He has a change to bring that particular position up in performance, astronomically! Again...Baker has to let Whit be the bell-cow and let Perk do his work in space.
His health and return to "havoc" form for our D along with Monsoor/Jackson and the development of young guys has a chance to move us into the upper-middle of the SEC D's.
I think we will have the No. 1 scoring offense in the league and a rejuvinated healthy Perk might just be the straw that stirs a big run for the Tigers!

Yeah. Why'd don't we ever talk about Harold Perkins on this board?

Talk shows,,,do y'all read? Go listen to Moscona's 30 min. break-down. Not one mention out of all the people he talked about.
Not one mention on the entire broadcast yesterday either. Of course those guys were Gary Danielson-level suck

good man Rummy...Showing the light to those intellectually less honest

As an on-ball LB'er...I agree. My biggest gripe with him was when he got blocked...he quit on the play and just stayed block. He's a different animal in space however. His up-side from Burns alone is very exciting to me!

I think people just dont know what to expect. If we're moving Perkins to a new position yet another year, how can we know what to expect?
He was still the best when he just lined up as a rush stand up OLB and got let loose on pass downs a true freshman. We've gotten away from that largely the last 2 seasons with him.
I think his skillset matches what you would want in a STAR, decent size with great athleticism, but how will he be in pure coverage roles thats required of a STAR so often? Can we get more creative with him from there in blitz situations bringing him down off the edge occasionally (we rarely did this with Burns - 34 pass rush snaps all season).

Perk and Whit can be all world but until we get our corner and safety rooms straight it won’t matter. To take the next step we need to shore up those positions.

Year 1+ production is what I expect because that's the role he played

Well Mansoor and Jackson along with the growth of guys like Woodland/Spears and Stamps should help alot. Not to mention Pickett and the "supposed safety" that's secretly committed

He went from great to becoming a liability. If he can come back aggressive and hungry, he’ll be a beast.
Like you noticed (purposely running to get stand-up blocked), he has been playing ‘not to get hurt’ for a couple seasons and I don’t see his aggression coming back.

I think that's what happens when a 220 lb lb'er gets blocked by 320 lb tackles and can't use his best skill...speed! 80% of his best is 120% better than Burns!

Sir, the 6'2" 225 TE from Nicholls worked over Perkins the entire game. Go watch the replay on YouTube.

Hopefully Whit will get with him and help turn him back into the monster he was.
