I had the envie to watch a western last night and hadn’t seen any of the spaghetti westerns in years, so I opted to go with For a Few Dollars More. I enjoyed it more than I recalled in the past.
Anyway, that got me thinking on some of my favorites, in no particular order:
Lonesome Dove
The Outlaw Josey Whales
Once Upon a Time in the West
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Tombstone
Silverado
Dances with Wolves
Unforgiven
Open Range
The Proposition
What else y’all got?

I appreciate High Plains Drifter and High Noon for their contributions to cinema.

I will take this opportunity to plug The TV Western Thread
Maybe some of you no-account saddle tramps & four flushing drifters might mosey on over. I'm the crusty but lovable old prospector who keeps it from becoming a total ghost town.

One of my favorites too. Great cast and good story line, although not your typical run and gun western with lots of violence.
That kid still cracks me up at the end when they are divvying up the take and he spots a counterfeit bill.
I watched one of my favorites last night-------"The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance". What an all-star cast, great story and acting, although a few too many "Pilgrims" thrown in by Wayne----something like 25 of them during the movie.

I say it every one of these threads, but Red Dead Redemption 2.
Arthur Morgan is second only to Gus McCray on my favorite cowboys of all time list.
