So we give 200 billion to Ukraine and this is what we are providing to our Military. This is actually sickening
Truer words were never spoken. The current administration cares much more for Ukraine than they do for our own Military. Sickening doesn't do it justice.
Edit... didn't realize the video was old. Point is still valid, though, is it not? They couldn't find the money to properly equip vehicles back then... yet now they seemingly have a bottomless pit of money to send to Ukraine? I can only hope they that have the same bottomless pit of money to properly equip our own troops wherever they may be. If that makes sense.

That is a very old video probably from operation iraqi freedom.
The soldiers in that video are wearing old d.c.u. pattern uniforms with woodland camo vests. That is literally two uniform patterns ago (ucp, then ocp). If you're gonna get pissed about something this is not it.

Well, he told that in an amusing way, but the lesson was far from amusing.
There's not a single piece of our government, not even the DOE, that needs to be torn down and rebuilt more than the Pentagon. Every sector of it is rife with fraud and incompetence, and it never gets better.

Why? We should never have our Soldiers piece mealing equipment like this

That’s Iraq, 2005-2006.

Because this has nothing to do with the war in ukraine. Yes, it sucked that we had to have our troops adding hillbilly armor plating to our humvees back then, but this wasn't because of money being sent to Ukraine, it was from forcing ill-equipped nat. guard and active units with softsided unarmored humvees into combat situation and convoy escorts, a mission the humvee was never meant to do. This has since been rectified with MRAPs and up armored vehicles.

The point still stands. We send 200 billion to Ukraine but leave our soldiers with equipment like that...Regardless when it was

This video is old. This is the original video, the segment in the tweet begins at 6:18
This is what the US is currently replacing the Humvee with.

I feel better now. Thanks for the information

No the point doesn't stand you disingenuously posted that the money going to ukraine was forcing our troops to use hillbilly armor, where this is from like 2005. Keep on moving the goal post though. Just admit it you are wrong on this.

If you desire to be taken seriously as a poster, you should remove your statement in your OP.
It is disingenuous at best and simply not true.

We should provide our military with the best possible equipment, but sometimes, that gets redefined as a concept meets reality. That was the case encountered by the troops back when the segment was filmed. The US began to rapidly uparmor the Humvees when it became apparent they were not appropriate to the conditions on the battlefield.
We're witnessing the same evolution in Ukraine on both sides of the conflict.
Hindsight is 20/20.

If soldiers were injured or killed. Could they or the families sue the government for doing that?

Of course not
ETA: Do you know anything about military history? Soldiers have been adding their field improvised armoring since the dawn of time. Every log strapped to a Sherman tank, every foxhole ever dug, and every chainmail link represents soldiers trying to protect themselves and better their chances of survival.

Has incompetence in Pentagon planning, budgeting, purchasing, and execution been markedly improved or worsened since 2004?
I'm fine not worrying about it if we've fixed all that stuff.
