Wouldn't a wide spread shotgun be a more effective weapon on the fiield. I'm seeing Ukrainian drones chasing down Russian and Norks down - virtually landing on them before they blow up. I don't care if they ever find a a solutin, but at some point, US soliders will be facing the same issue. What do you guys think?

Electrical Jammer blocking the relay frequency that controls the drones would be more effective. If the drone cannot communicate with the operator, it is useless.

12 gauge , full choke, 3 inch shells, single ought buck shot, good for 80-90 yards.

Russia is now using drowns controlled by kilometers of fiber optic cable. Jamming does not work.

You think like a russian,

Strap 24 shotguns to our trucks.

Seems to me, eventually directed energy weapons are the answer here. I saw a x post a few days ago, about a bunch of different platforms in development.

Just microwave them from a distance, for almost no cost.

Source for this?

There's no defense for this as this is in application, functionally retarded.

Laugh if you want and I'm not going to find the source for you - I don't take hlomework assignments. I saw it on YouTube - look it up for yourself. The same video showed Ukraine developing their own version of this. And why call someone retarded because you can't use Google - there's no need for that and it just diminishes YOU.

So the drone is directly connected to kilometers of fiber? As in there is no wireless connection to the drone itself? I’d like to see that.

That would work but you need to think of the extra load on the troops. The squad robot being trialed by the Marine Corps would be a much better option.

Yes - they showed the Ukranian development of their version. The fiber was in a container mounted to a vehicle. The contaner was mounted "landscape" for lack of a better term. The end was shaped like a funnel - wiht a hole in the end about the size of an Silver Dollar coin if you've ever seen one of those. Bigger than a ping pon ball - but smaller than a tennis ball. The fiber payed out of the hole pulled by the drone.

It makes perfect sense - my only thought was - is the fiber strong enough to carry hold up over long distances. Apparently it is.

In Ukraine, both side rely on cell service to operate their drones. Neither side can truely shut down cell service if lose their own drones. The US military has their on secure comm system. We could shut down cell service area wide.

But yes shotgun would work. There are vids of Russians doing just that.

And if you walk a really long way - you'll fall off the edge of the Earth. Why are new concepts so hard to believe? The video showed the Russians blowing up a M1 Abrams. It took about 6 direct hits - and all of the Ukranian crew escapted, but they did disable the tank. And for a bit more detial - the Ukranians recovered the damaged tank a week later.

Amazed at the lack of imagination. You know, they used to fire TOW antitankmissles, - guded by wires. And those buggers put a lot more stress on a wire than a slow moving drone.

Not entirely accurate. There are many bands on the spectrum, to "block" all of them would require a lot of power.

These are military UAVs, not commercial quad copters with a grenade attached to them.

I didnt call you retarded, I called the application of this retarded and even after watching the video, the application is STILL RETARDED.

It just proves Russia has no anti jamming technology available on the battlefield.
