What are a few of the best games?

What about all the online content and classic game libraries? I see they have add ons for n64, sega, gameboy, etc.

And storage? I have the OLED model but will I need to add some storage?

My model came with a year subscription to Nintendo online. How to make use of that?

That's a long list, so I'll try to stick to just exclusives and keep it short:

Mario Odyssey
Mario Wonder
Zelda Breath of the Wild (play first)
Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (play second)
Mario Kart 8
Smash Bros Ultimate

These are included in your one year online sub. That should be plenty of time to check them out and decide for yourself if they're worth it.

There are two levels to the subscription. If you don't have the "expansion pass" level, you won't have access to all of the game libraries.

Switch takes microSD cards, so it's pretty cheap to add storage to it. I'd say it's worth doing. You can only store games on microSD, not save files.

Are you asking how to set this up?

Thanks all. These are the sorts of things I was hoping to learn.

Any recs on a travel case?

No. Just meant what are the best perks of Nintendo online? Access to libraries of old games and playing multiplayer online seem fun. Anything else to take advantage of?

The expansion pass level occasionally includes DLC for some games. Been a while since that has happened though, or at least since I noticed one. The extra Mario Kart stages are neat. Think one of my kids used the Splatoon 2 freebies.

I wouldn't hang my hat on those things though. It's mostly the online play and old game libraries access. If those don't interest you after your first year, it probably wont be something you want to continue.

It's only like $30-$40 a year or something like that, so it's hard for me to pass up.

Pokemon - I think there's a new one coming out in 2025.

Mario Odyssey

Dave the Diver - great game that you can pick up for 10-20 minutes and put down. Or not, and the next thing you know it's 5 AM and your alarm is going to go off in less than an hour.

Zelda - personally, I started with Tears of the Kingdom and don't feel like I missed out on much by not playing Breath of the Wild.

Surprised no one has mentioned getting a screen protector. It's the first thing I added to my Switch when I got one (I went with one from a company called amFilm).

Also picked up a Satisfye grip, which makes playing it more comfortable if your hands are on the bigger side (Satisfye makes a case as well so that you don't have to remove the grip each time you store it).

The DLC is outstanding. The additional themes you pick up for the Scarescraper mode with all the new ghost variations are great.

Coming in late. Pro controller is a must if you have big hands, really messed my thumbs up for a bit using the regular controllers.

Absolutely second this. The joycons are for childrens hands. I have fairly smallish hands for a dude and I still find them basically unusable.

Meanwhile the Switch Pro controller is one of the best feeling controllers ever made.

If you plan on playing it on the TV at all a pro controller is mandatory.

I'm sure there are other websites that track game prices, but I use DekuDeals to keep track of the games I want to buy. I'll get an email if anything hits as on sale, and saved a ton of money.

I now have too many games and not enough time to play them.
