New Orleans City Council just ensured that New Orleans East is coming back with this City of New Orleans budget item! Once this two million dollar study is finished we are going to see Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Aldi, Erewhon, Dean & DeLuca, Fairway Market, Balducci's, and Bristol Farms flocking to New Orleans East to open up their grocery stores.

This is what New Orleans leadership looks like in case anyone ever questioned their ability to attract business.

Here's the revolutionary find, and this costs nothing: Ghetto areas theft causes a net loss to any retail locations.

Which of his friends is getting the $2m?

Or did he create a fake research company to steal it himself???

Here's the no bullshite technological solution to this: Order online or at a kiosk and its picked up in the front. That's what's going to the be the future of poor areas. 0% chance of theft. My guess is the government will subsidize them.

Give me $20,000 and I could give them enough reasons (well, really one) why a grocery store in NOLA East won’t be successful.

What are the odds that he's pocketing a portion of that?

What needs to be studied? Who does the study? What are their connections to Thomas who has been convicted of a federal bribery charge?

Those stores in poor areas were probably losing as much or more out the back door/loading dock as they were the front door.

Is the cost of a deep freezer to hide the money in part of the $2 million or will he have to pay for that out of pocket

Did no one tell him there is a Walmart SuperCenter at I-10 and Bullard. And a Winn-Dixie on Chef.
What a bunch of total shite!

The study needs to include in the cost analysis, costs for bullet proof glass/doors and sound proofing of the entire building so that customers can shop without hearing the gun shots.

Cha-ching, Oliver!

The story of a man who wouldn’t let the system keep him off the gravy train. The horse threw him, and threw him straight into a jail cell. But here he is reaping off the taxpayers, larger than ever.

Big thanks to New Orleans voters for making this possible.
