He must have had a short leash because he's been there forever

Agreed. He is a great man, a great family, and a great coach.

Wow. I thought he was going to die in that chair. Sort of shocked Cajuns pulled the trigger

What’s the backstory on this? Marlin seems well respected.

The crawfishing would be hilarious after some reporter asks how he feels about the arena.

I doubt they would if you are suggesting who I think you are suggesting. He would be a great hire but I am not sure they will go that route and I'm not sure if he would take that job or if he is waiting for something better.

I'm a big fan of Byron Starks. I've known him and his wife for at least 20 years. And my son played basketball for him 12 years ago or so. I would love to see him get that chance. His college coaching experience has been at the JUCO level so far, though.

1. Too inconsistent
2. Questionable game management (notorious for momentum killing timeouts)
3. Think he had two different team mutinies occur at different times
4. Total apathy with MBB fanbase set in
5. Only supporters were his really close Rebounders Club Donors
6. I'm sure season ticket sales were in the double digits
7. His wife was a drama queen on social media

He was here forever and I can only remember three seasons (out of what? 16?). Fear the Beard, Elfrid + Shawn Long NCAA appearance, and NCAA appearance in 2023.

He did not have the personality to compete in this NIL + Transfer Portal era. You need a flashy coach to attract NIL donors and players.

It’s sad that basketball in the Acadiana area gets zero coverage or excitement. It’s sparsely covered on the news even though there is good basketball in the area. Even when UL is good at basketball they get less attendance than an sTm home crowd.

I mean...anytime they'd finally start attracting crowds with one good season, we'd have 3 seasons of .500 ball. Rinse and repeat. No sustained success/momentum.

Certainly wouldn't be the worst hire. Cajuns basketball had good support in Acadiana during the Michael Allen/Bryon Starks era.

Would hopefully help get alot more butts in the seats.
