I just realized something pretty wild. Jackson Arnold supposedly is getting something like $2.5-3M from Auburn for 1 year. I have no clue what LSU is giving MVB, but I’d guess it’s way below that. Their 2024 numbers are very similar:

Arnold:
10 Games
154/246 (62.6%)
1865 Total Yards
16 Total TDs
3 INTs

MVB:
10 Games
140/256 (54.7%)
1874 Total Yards
16 Total TDs
7 INTs

Did we get a complete steal?

Already said "AS OF TODAY" he will be the starter after Nuss leaves.

Games, Yards and TDs are similar. Arnold was much better in comp % and Ints, if you're just comparing numbers on paper.

Why are people convinced that Nuss is guaranteed the starting job? He is not a great QB and refused to fix any issues over the season, and there were several that could’ve been implemented in a week.

By the end of the season he was still throwing the ball right into the opposing team’s hands for no reason.

And despite all the hate he got for not running the ball he never did it until a few times in the OU game. If he doesn’t approve he is not guaranteed shite. Especially if this Van Buren kid comes in with something to prove and works his arse off.

Maybe because in his first year as a starter he had one of the best seasons in school history?

That guy transferred to auburn? So Oklahoma lost Dillon Gabriel to Oregon because they wanted Arnold and they ended up with neither and a shite season

Because he is, and should be. There is no one on the roster, including Van Buren that should start over Nuss next year.

Vandy: 28/37, 332 yds, 1 TD, 0 Int
OU: 22/31, 277 yds, 3 TD, 0 Int

WTF are you talking about?

The only way Nuss is not QB1 in week 1 is because he is sick, injured, or dead. You're setting yourself up for a huge disappointment if you think there will be a legitimate QB competition in the offseason. The only competition will be between Van Buren and Hurley for the backup spot.

Improve. He meant "improve". Not "approve".

What is I told you that Van Buren did this at a higher rate than Nuss? What f I also told you that Van Buren had 3 interceptions in his last 3 games and Nuss had 0 interceptions in his last 3 games?

OP should read "Their age-adjusted stats are very similar."

Oklahoma landed the #1 QB in the portal, John Mateer.

Vegas just came out with odds giving him having a legitimate shot winning the Heisman trophy next year and you question why he's the starter?

He might have meant college experience.

Van Buren in his first year..
Arnold in his second year.

Another tidbit is that Van Buren had 7 INTs on the year as a true freshman with likely a less talented support cast around him.
