I'm going to expose my ignorance a little here but just why in the frick is it we haven't gotten a standalone hurricane relief bill? Will a committee not let it get to the floor or something?
That just seems like the basic type of think even our hyper partisan dysfunctional government should be able to handle but I guess cannot for some reason
I think that's the thing, that while talked about a bit in the last day or two, should be shouted from the rooftops

She mentioned it - they hold those things back and put them in items like a CR or Omnibus in order to compel people to vote for the CR / Omnibus.

Well yea, I knew that was the motivation behind not doing it but my question is what is, for example, stopping Mace from proposing a bill standalone that would provide relief and it getting an up and down vote on the floor? I know there are several steps between drawing up a bill and it getting a floor vote including committees and the speaker has some sort of power over what gets votes but idk what has specifically stopped it from happening in this case. Surely someone has at least tried? Or not tried bc it was made known by leadership it would never make it to the floor??
