Portal haul so far has looked good but why haven’t we addressed the safety position

Looks like a good amount of plug and play in a lot of positions of need except for the safety spot. Does BK and staff trust the guys we have or are there just no strong options in the portal worth taking a look at?

Why can't some of you be patient? I'm sure he's going to address every single thing that needs addressing. What that's happened so far makes you think otherwise?

You are just like the people who were crying 2 days after the portal opened that we had lost players, but hadn't signed anybody.

Maybe, they have heard from some agents of guys still playing that will be entering the portal later and he is waiting?

Just because players are in the portal doesn't mean the staff can sign them all. Some of those players are going to sign with teams based on region, conference, fit & money. Coaches can't force players to sign with them. Ultimately, it's going to be up the player. Secondly, have some patience.

This is definitely a possibility.

Moscona said on his YT channel that his sources at LSU say one of their safety targets is playing in a playoff game this Saturday.

Yep, as much as we want to believe EVERY recruit is crazy not to come to LSU, they have their reasons to go elsewhere...

Was listening to Shea Dixon on Moscona's show while ago driving home and evidently we missed on two that went elsewhere. They wanted Poyser but he opted for Miami. Still 11 days for this portal period for players to enter. It didnt sound like there was anybody in the making that moved the needle a lot. Byard is still an option I believe. Shea speculated that maybe Delane can play safety.

Shea's point is that there is still 12 teams out there playing and they get an extra 5 days after they are eliminated for portal entry. So not sure if they are waiting on anyone on S or OL from these teams.

On another note he said Moore has not visited anyone else and is still on the table. Most people still think he is coming. Not sure what is left to do here.

Geez it's a fricking question.

He came to ask thinking some here may know more than him.

He wants to know if we're solid at safety and not likely to reach in the portal or need someone but the portal is just weak.

I mean, Major Burns is about to enter his 15th year of eligibility. He will pick up the position finally next year!

Because our targets are still playing meaningful football.

I agree and I'm starting to believe (hopefully) that BK / Baker are planning on moving Perkins to strong safety. Maybe it is just hopefuly thinking on my part, but if we don't find a really good safety, our defense will be as porous as last year sadly.

Could Harold Perkins be a safety?

I feel like that’s a more natural fit given his size and speed. If they train him up right he could be a nasty in the box safety like Jamal Adams and Honey Badger were but that also requires him sticking around Baton Rouge another year and giving up on the LB/star position we’ve tried to fit him in, which unsure where that would project him heading into the league once the year is up.

I think this is right and Perkins can play Star, if he returns

Ok, someone help me understand this...

What enables LSU to cherry-pick guys from playoff teams? I get that players can transfer wherever they want, but unless it's from the Big 12 or maybe Boise, why would a guy on one of those teams (someone good who's getting PT) want to go somewhere else? You'd think the money would be comparable, and they're already at the team that is in the playoffs.
