Darren Rizzi has named Jake Haener the starting QB for this week's game against the Commanders, according to a source. Rizzi informed him and the other QBs of the decision this afternoon. Formal announcement coming soon.

Looks like merit won out with Rizzi. Allen chose fan sentiment.

He had to. Anyone would have done it because if Haener didn't win, the fans would be calling for his head.

We weren’t going to win even if Carr played

Good choice, Rattler’s confidence is not there based in his starts earlier, he ain’t ready, if Rattlers is future then let him start fresh with a healthy OL

If Rizzi can win this one, maybe he should be the guy

I would say no but it looks not to matter much who the coach is the next two years.

Most rookies suck in the nfl. Pretty high %.
Most 2nd year qbs are not very good. Its also a high %.
Picking a great qb in the draft is a very low %.

Saints will get throttled in this one. Jayden Daniel’s is the worst possible matchup for this defense

I like it.

He deserves a shot to have a game where he takes most of the 1st team reps in practice and see what the can do.

I do not think it's a conviction of Rattlers starts earlier in the season and I do believe if Carr misses extended games that Rattler will get another shot at starting to see how he's matured and how he fares with more of a starting lineup especially on the Oline.

if we had Taysom this game could be winnable.

our only chance is to put our corners on an island and spy JD all game. play keep away with AK and Miller.

Oline is gonna have to play great and Haener is going to have to protect the football.

tall order.

In all fairness to Rattler, the line sucked when he had his shot. However, I felt that Haener should have been the guy back then and now. Rattler got the call because the fans are in love with this name. Haener had a better grasp of the offense, was the backup QB and should have gotten the start. I have 10x more confidence in Rizzi making the call to get the best opportunity to get a W.

fwiw, and I'm just a nobody with a friend in the organization, but DA wanted to start Haener. Kubiak was the reason Rattler started, he was insistent.

Rizzi would at least field an entertaining team. Let him HC through the rebuild. It's a no brainer... especially since Loomis will be around to frick it up
