Transferring from Arizona. I’m hoping we get involved in this one. He fits the Raymond mold for sure. Lengthy, physical man corner who also is a great tackler. Imagine having two 6’4 corners on the field.

Only 1 INT but 22 pass deflections. Probably why he’s a DB but I’ll take it.

I wonder if he can play safety. I know absolutely nothing about him except this link, but really good 6'4" cover corners are pretty rare. Do we know how much eligibility he has left? I suspect, though not sure, that they're not looking for a one-year corner unless he's a guaranteed starter. Just my thoughts, though. Thanks for the post.

Just my opinion, but I think we'll have a hard time getting a Corner outside of Jackson. These guys will either want a guaranteed starting spot or a big NIL deal.

It won't be easy to start over Pickett, Stamps, Woodland, and presumably Jackson.

Davis would start over all four

it shouldn't be hard to start over woodland or stamps. we should be upgrading CB, not rolling with the status quo that has been severely below DBU prestige levels.

So you've seen him play a lot? Does Arizona play a lot of man coverage, or mostly zone? I think Raymond loves guys who can play man, so is this guy maybe looking to leave because he like the fit better at LSU? Thanks.

He's a Thorpe award semi-finalist, looked at near the end of round 1 in mock drafts with the length and physicality that Corey Raymond drools over. I think he didn't have the stand-out year that some expected, but he would easily be an immediate starter at LSU. He’s a man-press corner and would give us crazy length at the position with DJ Pickett.

It seemed like LSU played about 50/50 Zone vs Man this year. Under Baker, we tend to play more Zone early in a game and blitz from Man coverage later. But I haven’t watched tape and tracked it. But we do play both.

At that size he’s more of a Grant Delpit than a boundary corner.

They praised the hell out of PJ Woodland last year. He also had the height and length that Raymond covets. Ten pounds will make him much better in boxing out these bigger WRs. Lots of people just throwing him off to the side is so stupid considering the ridiculous amount of 3 star players that Raymond had no problem building up into top 3 round draft picks.

I’d say that the money speaks for itself.

While we may, at some point, get to a spot where some schools can simply buy players to keep them from going other places,
we’re not close to that yet.

We know he’s a future day 1/early day 2 draft pick with length and multiple years of high level performance at the major D1 level. In 2023 was one of PFFs highest graded corners.

If that doesn’t give us any useful information whats the point of discussing the players at all

I mean, Pickett is pretty comparable to a Derek Stingley type as a tFr.

Stamps will go into next Fall with 13+ started under his belt and lots of SEC experience. He really hasn't been bad.

Woodland has been solid and sticky at Corner this year with limited action, and was the MS Gatorade POY.

I don't know much about Jackson, but he started at UF his first year and has a lot of SEC experience. He was a highly rated recruit, also.

I like the strong tackling part. LSU needs to upgrade its tackling especially in the secondary, and safeties in particular. Get the Purdue safety...NOW
