They're going the wrong way...

As much as I love march madness…. Hard no!!!!! More teams won’t help the tournament and will kill the NIT which I also like when they get to the Garden.

The lowest seed to ever win the national title is 8th. I think is was Villanova.
This is dumb.
This is dumb.

Just go to 128 while they're at it.
Seven games over 20 days is same as what they play in regular season.
Now we'll have teams that go 7-11 or 6-12 in their conference get in.

64 was perfect and made for a nice, clean bracket challenge.
Screw all these play-in games
Screw all these play-in games

Roughly 70% of the NCAA’s revenue comes from the men’s basketball tournament.
Most of the college football playoff revenue goes directly to the conferences and schools. Some of the money eventually trickles up to the NCAA, but it’s a fraction of the total.
The NCAA is looking at the huge payday ESPN is forking over for CFB content, even TNT is willing to pay ESPN for a share. They want CBS, TNT, Warner Bros., Paramount, or whoever is the parent company to pay for an increase in basketball tournament inventory and games.

We will all start watching when it gets to 64. Nobody cares about the play ins. This is a bad decision but ultimately won’t change much for my viewing

lol...exactly!
Regular season will mean nothing.
Smart schools will sit star players to rest them, which will suck for fans.

Most “progress” is absolutely negative

I think it is actually more than 70%, but otherwise you are 100% right. This push for expansion is SOLELY to generate more TV money. Money the NCAA needs to pay the House settlement.
There is little to no demand from the fans to increase the number of teams and, in the end, this move will further dilute what is one of the best sporting events of the year. Unfortunately, the same bozos who got us in the current mess by exhibiting zero forethought are doing the same here. They are diluting/devaluing their product over the long term in exchange for a short term gain.

Nice to know the gambling industry pretty much controls all sports now .

I'm fine with that, as long as the top teams don't have to play any extra games to get to the championship.

That's adding 4 to 8 more teams. I suspect the format will be either and additional "play in" game for another 10 and/or 11seed (if 4 teams added) or All 10 and 11 seeds are "play-in games" (if 8 teams added).
Last year the 10 seeds had two play-in games and two 10 seeds that were awarded without having a play-in game.
No will really care other than gamblers and fans of those programs as it will be a bunch of good, but not great, teams battling for 10 seeds (or lower).

These idiots are ruining every sport

I have said for a few years that the NCAA needs to expand to 96 and merge with the NIT.
Seeds 1-32 get a first round bye.
First and Second round losers essentially go into the NIT.
Give each conference two auto bids, a regular season and tournament champion. 32 at large teams.
