I have a Dutch shepherd that will absolutely kill for a Frisbee. Can do jumps loops and catch it all in one. But if she leaves it somewhere she can't find that thing to save her life. She will bring me a leaf instead and expect that to go as far as a Frisbee. But whatever she goes to bed with me in her own bed. No one is going to break into my home.
She's a goofy girl but I love her what about y'alls hounds?

Aussie Shep here
Smarter than my kids. Couch potato until you get him wound up. Throw a ball and he’ll be fetching until his paws fall off.
Can anticipate every move we make. Knows the time of the day from our routines. Puts himself to bed when we don’t follow them.
My favorite is I can walk him without a leash. He’ll stay right by my side if I request it of him. If I tell him to stay, he wont move an inch until I “clear” him. Loyal to a fault.
He imprinted on me, so we are best friends. Love my pup.

I've got a 2 year old border collie. Very smart and loving. Requires much stimulation and will let you know if you've neglected her for longer than 2 minutes.

Jack Russell- extremely bright. Highly recommend as long as you can deal with the shedding.

Golden retriever .. Not the athletic version but more show blood lazy type. He's a good boy but sheds like a motherfkr. I do see why Golden doodles are popular

I have two Weimaraners
These dogs are crazy smart. Super energy and need to be wound down…. But they are like sitting with a person in a quiet room. After a few years they can basically understand over 100 phrases

Mine is a tire chaser. I would love to have a border dog that was chill. Imprinting is an integral part of being an alpha/350.

My ex had a Yorkie close to 20 years ago. Once on a whim I wrote down all the words he knew. It was close to 300.

Knows over fifty words/commands. Really sharp.
Used to have a pretty sensitive stomach, not so much anymore.
Wonderfully gentle and protective with kids including babies.
Checks on them individually at night and in the morning.
Right at 50 lbs., I love that knucklehead.

Belgian Malinois. Smartest dog I've ever personally been around, but they're as active as advertised.

Have had standard poodles my whole life. Insanely smart. We came for the no shedding, but stayed for hte intelligence and fetching. Obsessed with a damn ball, will not stop fetching until you hide the mf. And don't let them see where you hide it

That is why I got and off switch with a Dutch Shepherd. She only turns off when she sworn out. Those two breeds are the most awesome dogs besides Yorkies and French bulldogs. The Yorkies are super smart and I could imagine a French bulldog looking like a pig one of a barbecue pin if it was pork.

Toy Poodle (female). So smart, sweet, and lovable.

My sister has a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel.
Cute dog, but trying to train her is pointless. She once got her head stuck behind the couch. Another time, *while on the leash*, walked into the crawl space under the porch and couldn't figure her way out.

I grew up around border collies. No dog on the planet compared to their intelligence. One learned very quickly where every cow was supposed to go in our 80 stall barn. We never tried to teach her that, she simply picked it up.
The worst thing to happen to that breed was when the AKC recognized them as a breed. It made apartment living idiots think they are an ideal indoor dog. These things need space to run and constant stimulation. They can become the most amazing companions but their first instinct is to work.

All jokes aside, you’re right. That little fricker is smart as a whip.

A very underrated breed. Does she look like a mixed-mongrel like a lot of them?:
