Once again, it's 4A schools in Division 2 Non Select. The system is asinine.

Go back to Classifications with public and private schools separated, and lower the number of teams that make the bracket to 16 or 20 to keep the 1-2 loss teams out of it.

All these so called "charter" schools are what got rid of this.

the spilt remaining is also due to the rise and power of open enrollment, charter and "magnent" schools. This is by far the better solution than the original split.

Don't forget for the first 8 years of the split 3a privates had to play 4a privates in the playoffs.

and the principals will never go for that.

Imagine dreaming your whole life about playing in the dome for the championship, only to make it and have to play at 12:00 on a Thursday

Yeah that's some lame scheduling.
Karr vs Alexandria at noon? Isn't that the marquee game? When Curtis played Brother Martin a couple years ago for the D1 select final, it was a night game and there was a big all day tailgate outside the dome.

This schedule did seem incredibly dumb until I realized the saints had a home game next week. I imagine the dome staff wants the extra time to get the place ready for Sunday.

No. We made the title in 2010 and a lot of the fun was having the chance to be in the superdome for it. A lot of that buzz is gone if your playing in yulman/cajun field/independance stadium etc. I think the only place you could use that would hold the same aura as the dome is Tiger stadium.

It sucks for 3A schools.

The problem is the publics that have schools of choice(magnet), charter, or open enrollment have as big (or bigger, in some cases) an advantage as the privates. What should happen is to have the district match the playoff bracket, effectively back to 4A max like back in the stone ages when I was in high school. The problem there is geography when setting up districts.

So I think we are stuck where we are, unfortunately

honestly in todays age I’m not sure this matters that much. There’s still some district that end up covering a huge area with the system in place now.

Bump- it’s probably time for this thread to take over and the semi-finals thread to fade.

Blame that scheduling on the NFL they want access to the dome earlier now than in years past.

Will the LHSAA be broadcasting the games on YouTube? Last week, the ASH you tube channel said they can only broadcast radio of the finals not TV. something about LHSAA rules

Question: Do they change out the field goal post to high school dimensions? Or do they make the kids kick on a NFL field goal?

Same here. Going to support Central. My nephew was one game away in 2008 with Central. If Briscoe doesn't get hurt against Acadiana the previous week Central would have probably beaten Destrahan the next week.

That one was brutal. He even played the first series on a torn ACL and we went right down the field and scored, then he couldn’t stay in the game and our backup QB was also a starting WR so it was a double hit and the difference ended up being a 104 yard INT return for a TD by Destrahan. Same defender ended up getting a 100 plus yard INT return in the title game as well if memory serves

Maybe it was just that I was a younger player then but that team was full of grown arse men seems like the players today are half the size of some of our starters that year but I know that’s just nostalgia brain
