College football as we know it is over...

Just make it contractual and start treating these kids like minor league NFL.
Solomon Thomas wanted to go to FSU..."I was waiting on calls today on some determining factors that could've led me to different schools."

JFC. My critical thinking skills are bad but some of y’all are plain fricking dumb. LSU did not buy this kid. Even though I’m sure he is getting paid well. He flipped from FSU because they are actually burning and they fired OL coach. This is not a Bryce Underwood situation where we just made an offer he couldn’t refuse.

You ignore the part where the FSU offensive line coach was fired.

He wanted to go to FSU before the coach that was recruiting him got fired. Once the FSU coach got fired he opened up his recruitment.
Now I'm not going to put my head in the sand and dismiss NIL money. Of course it had an impact. But I believe FSU with their old coach that was originally recruiting Thomas would have landed Thomas with less NIL money than LSU was offering. But after the FSU coach that was recruiting Thomas was fired the equation changed.
Enter Brad Davis and LSU.
That's just the nature of recruiting in the NIL era. Win some. Lose some. Hopefully we win more than we lose.

OP probably did know about it.

whata crock of shite. the dude literally said he was waiting for the call yesterday....
what might that call have been? to make your theory true, the call was they rehired the ol coach...
the call he was waiting for was the bag. who was going to come up with the $$$. he had lsu's offer, another school didnt call. so he went with lsu.

He's disappointed because A. FSU didn't retain their OL coach (opened the door for other teams) and B. FSU either wouldn't or couldn't match NIL offers. I think if the price was right from Tallahassee he might have still signed there, that's why he was waiting on a phone call.

Without the O line coach he was choosing between very good programs, not surprising the deciding factor would be money. He should I have said “I wanted to go to FSU but they are a complete dumpster fire at the moment so it would be a bad decision.”

Quit trying to make the board melt. It's not happening.

Why do some of y’all get so offended at the implication that we paid big money for a kid. People melt when we don’t and melt when we do

Yes I know the FSU coach being fired was the initial factor but what Donkus said is why I made this thread.

The rant can see, or hear, anything and instantly turn it into whatever it is they want to believe. It's what dumb people are best at doing.

Then he’s taking the Heard approach. If he doesn’t start next year, he will be in the portal looking at FSU. I wouldn’t count on this kid for the long haul if he doesn’t see a path for PT by 2026 season.

If your wife said she was disappointed she couldn’t marry her ex how would you spin it?
You want to talk about other people but you’re choosing to believe what you want too. Slice it how you want but the kid said it and in whatever context it’s not something you say if you’re 100% without a doubt happy with your current situation. Sorry it doesn’t align with your thoughts.

What is incorrect about what we are seeing or hearing? It’s clear what the guy said. He can be disappointed the coach isn’t there but he was clearly waiting for a call about money. Nothing else.
Is it good or bad, who knows. We’re getting him through the door, that’s a big first step. He might love it here and be the next big thing. But it also sounds like he’ll be on the first thing smoking if it doesn’t work out like he wants. And that’s fine because that’s today’s world. We’ll get someone else.

Of course LSU did. He’s not going to LSU because it’s his dream school. Can we all stop with the “other schools are just buying players but the guys we got all bleed P&G” routine?

The kid just said in plain speak what is now the new "normal" in college football today. Just get used to it.
Those who want to continue and foolishly bask in the thought that players are solely or even primarily making such a life-altering decision, bc of "school, coaches, academics, 'family setting'" are idiots.
Money is now the "deciding" factor. Bottom line. It's time to treat college football as the NFL. Some free agents we will sign, some will choose other teams who "show" how much they value their services.
We not talking peanuts either... We talking secure the immediate future money. Investment money, house money, kinda take care of the fam money--- immediately. Not having to wait for the NFL bag to change financial circumstances and/or still getting financially setup in the event the NFL is not in the cards, for whatever reason.
Crazy how many used to say the players should get paid bc the school and coaches were benefitting well over 100+ million in revenue at big time schools. Now that the day has come for that to be the new reality--- half of those people want to do away with it.
We'll adjust and get used to it in the next few years. LSU will be fine. Geaux Tigahs.
