The authorities would have him by morning if they let the OT sleuths take over the investigation.

Assuming that the Occam's Razor explanation is true (it is based on a vendetta such as a ruined doctor or denied claim)... yes. IF that's true they will be very easily to narrow down the pool of suspects and then technology will get the list to very short. Once the interviews start, and they threaten every wife with obstruction or lying charges when she stupidly answers the "do you have anything to add" question at the end of the interview she will turn on him.

If it was a vengeance killing then Yes, someone will know this guy because he ranted all the time about UHC and probably talked about killing the CEO all the time.

If it was a hit, no.

If he left shell casings, candy wrapper, water bottle, and cellphone behind, then yes. I don't think anyone going to Starbucks before an execution or even work, is very smart. JMHO.

If this is some red herring and he has a disguise, then no.

You really think that's the most logical explanation?

I do. I definitely think it has a higher probability than that of a professional hit.

Since it wasn't a robbery and it wasn't some random mentally ill person (it was NYC after all) there's not much more left other than somebody was stepping out on somebody or an inheritance/insurance money grab.

There's obviously a level of prep there. He was waiting between cars. You either do that out of anger (vendetta) or you are paid for it (professional).

FWIW wore the mask and hood up, the same mask and hoodie, in the coffee shop. Being cold right now in NY it neither raised suspicion or really means much other than they were preplanning and aware of cameras everywhere. And that very well might give them their lead- in mid-town there's enough cameras where they will be able to back track him on foot. At some point he put that hood up and mask on; the question will be did he do it before exiting a building/vehicle and they still won't have his face OR did he do it while walking as he approached what he obviously knew was the area he was anticipating waiting on him.

He knew the CEO would be there. The meeting wasn't until 8am. Shooter had the place staked out.
