Ole Miss bought their team this year

And we beat them. Texas A&M always gets 5 stars and never wins anything significant. Badger was a 4 star, Hester was a 2 star. They won with heart, not money. I could go on and on. Let’s focus in-state, use the portal as necessary and ride! Frick the kids who chase the dollar and don’t wanna be here. And frick NIL.

You realize that is exactly what we are trying to do as well right? We tried to buy a bunch of highly rated high school guys. We got outbid for them now we are going to try to buy a bunch of guys in the portal.

Bama wrecked shite for a decade by recruiting 5 stars at every position. LSU needs talent to compete consistently.

The big problem with the system in place teams are really totally rebuilding each year. Football is different from many sports. It is very complex to get all players on the same page. It takes time to develop, learn the plays and gel as a well oil machine. As a coach I have no idea how they can put up with this each year but I quess if we are willing to play 10 mil a year many will be willing to put up with it!

They got this NIL thing all wrong, players should be paid for performance on the field, and the amount should be tied to wins and losses. At least it would minimize the resentment players feel toward the few who are making bank without having to prove they deserve it.
ETA: Joe Burrow should have earned 10 million in 2019 for what he did for the profitability of the program.

Unless they have ties to Louisiana, we should just recruit East Texas, Louisiana, And the Gulf Coast.
Those other regions will just have kids that will use LSU.
Kelly is recruiting like he HAD to do at Notre Dame.
I still don't understand why he came here. Notre Dame is basically guaranteed a spot in the playoffs every year now with the 12 team and their schedule.

You can frick NIL all you want but the bottom line is that’s college football now. Kids are going to go where the money is at. I hate it just as much as you but that’s the new reality

You have to get to the playoffs first. Can't play for a Championship going 8 - 4 in the SEC.

For most recruits/people, this is the most amount of money these families have ever held or had.
In state loyalty is completely gone. It’s all about the money, can’t blame them. You gotta make this count, most likely won’t make it to the next level.

I agree but there is a small sweet spot between what you just mentioned and Burns/Ryan. Don't act like Hester and Badger were solely successful off of heart. They were talented too. Their NFL careers back that up. Constantly banking on diamonds in the rough is not a sustainable model
