If Congress or a federal prosecutor decide to investigate Joe Biden or his brother for illegal monies received from Hunter's activities, Hunter cannot plead the fifth when under oath and can be prosecuted for perjury or contempt.

Unless Joe pardons himself & his brother on his way out the door.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility you know.

I'm not sure what the right legal play is for Trump if any, but at minimum the administration needs to air all of this out. The people need to see, unfiltered, what the Bidens have been up to. Release the laptop in full to someone like Turley or Taibbi and let them drip it on X

Joe could pardon his brother, but the ability of the President to pardon himself has never really been challenged in the courts. I think that one would definitely have to play out.

i thought pardons only worked if a person was convicted of a crime?

Interesting take. Have only read that like two dozen times here already, though.

Nope, the presidential pardon is very broad and can be applied even if charges haven’t been brought.

The Supreme Court has stated that the president can grant pardons freely, except in cases of impeachment. In the case of Ex parte Garland, it was decided that the president's ability to pardon includes all federal crimes. This can happen at any time after a crime has been committed, whether before, during, or after legal proceedings. He can not pardon for future crimes.

People have already tried to expose the whole thing.

I don't really care about prosecuting Bidens anymore. But, I do think the Ukraine racket for all of our politicians deserves attention.

What's that old saying? Be careful what you wish for, you might get it?

He is only pardoned from Federal prosecution. If we committed state crimes (spoiler alert he did) then he can be prosecuted for those.

So Hunter can go rob a bank today and get off b/c of his blanket pardon? I'm sure there are limitations on it.

The Media was very adamant in 2020/2021 that this was absolutely not possible for a President to do. They wouldn’t change their position based on who the President in question is though, right? Certainly they have more integrity than that.

Would be hilarious Trump didn’t pardon himself leaving office, they call him a nazi dictator with potential to abuse power, then Biden pardons himself and family. Can’t wait

Prosecute Hunter and Joe, separately, in a red state court.

Pass a one year law extending the statute of limitations if you need to.

Tit for tat motherfrickers. Don't complain... lawfare doesn't exist. And Raskin says the DOJ/FBI isn't politicized. Therefore if they follow the same exact gameplan it's both permissible and not extra-judicial lawfare right?

No. Pardons are only for crimes already committed, not for future ones.

That's why now, if subpoenaed, he would have to testify truthfully. Otherwise, he can be charged with contempt (if he refuses) and/or perjury (if he lies).

Any changes to statutes of limitations can only be prospective, not retroactive.

We have an issue here in TX with a pedophile pastor (Robert Morris) who did his deeds 30 years ago. He can't be charged for anything now.
