Some players have given up

What's he expect us to do? We've been embarrassed all season that we are having to start a whole starting lineup that should be at the end of teams benches. None of our "stars" can stay healthy or in playing shape.

Compete. He says all he needed to say in his presser. We didn't compete against another 4-14 team and got blown out of our own building.

I didn't watch the game, but based on the quotes in the link and some of the comments I saw online, this was a lower effort game. I agree with the OP, Murray is the piece this team has been missing. The injuries really are a shame, I'd love to see this team with injuries turned off, but we know that's not going to happen.

DJM also called this out in the presser. There is a problem when players aren’t taking of their bodies or being on time for rehab. DJM has played 2 games and he already sees major problems in the organization.

Another thing too is we lost a lot of these "compete at all cost" rotational players this year in Naji, Dyson, JV, and even Nance. They never lacked effort no matter the circumstances.

We basically saw it last year. 49 games and being swept in the first round. Yes we’ve had ton of injuries but even if we were fully healthy I doubt this is a top 4 team in the west.

Culture needs to be changed. It needed to be changed last year. Willie is too much of a players coach (pussy) to deliver change. Zion has been coddled his whole life. He needs someone to put a foot in his arse.

I guess Ingrams knee injury and Zion not being available in the playoffs would have you saying the same thing?

Ok we lose in 6 or 7 to Thunder. Would it make that much of a difference?
I think fans have this fascination that this team fully healthy is a contender. Thats just not true.

Adding a pg like Murray to help ingram and zion and cj play off ball turns you into a contender if everyone holds up their end of the bargain.
Zion didn't. And we got injured. We'll never know if this core could've done it thanks to Zion.

The plan was never going to work because Zion is injured every year. You’re building around a guy that never stays healthy. To top it off- all Murray does is continue to make this team a playoff team not a contender- if everything goes right, they avoid the play-in barely. But Zion and BI are not superstars for this team to be considered a contender even when healthy.

Pelicans needed Murray, PJ Tucker, Trevor Ariza, Pat bev, etc. for the last several years. We had no leadership on the roster until CJ came along and it was too little, too late. These young guys don’t know how to win or be pros. They’ve just been out here living the dream and having fun.

100% correct. One of our superstars can’t stay healthy and can’t actually shoot the damn ball. The other one wants to stay in midrange land all day.
We need shooters. Everyone says we have Trey and Hawk but they are at a 30% three point clip.
Blow the whole fricking thing up. Get rid of Griff and Green. Ship Zion and BI off.

I honestly believe Zion gave up when he got drafted.

Anthony Bennett clone.

Man all these players are just actors.
You really think DJM cares that much?
Willie, DJM and CJ all spewed the same BS answers.
Yes some players care more than others, but none care as much as the fans do.
That's the sad thing and not worth investing too much of your time in this team. No point in investing heavily in something that you can't control.

Love Murray. Love that he wants to compete and will call his team out.
Still a good trade imo.
