When I was a teenager I spent a good bit of time fishing with my family at Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn. But that was decades ago. I’m thinking about renting a cabin and getting a guide to fish Toledo Bend. Is the fishing decent in Feb. and March or should I wait until later in the Spring?
Thanks for replies.

I have a lot of great memories camping at San Miguel’s in my teens and early twenties.

Fish practically jumped in the boat.

On toledo there is always some type of good fishing.
You are looking at prespawn mostly. It gets very busy on the banks at that time. Weather is your biggest enemy due to cold fronts almost every week.

Went with some friends early March of this year. A ton of big fish caught, one was over 10. Like others have stated, you’ll have to deal with the weather. We had planned to fish for seven days, but skipped the first 3 due to front.

It shouldn’t really matter when you go if you’re getting a guide

We used to go every year the third weekend of February, pre spawn was starting.

We had to plan our trips out due to people traveling and work etc

It was hit and miss with the weather, if it was warm in the evenings and clear we would do good. If a northern front hit it was terrible

Feb give you a shot at a giant prespawner, but the weather will really make all the difference. March is more consistent. I’d plan out your trip around the full moon or new moon in March.
