I know, muh, sources, but her turned out to be very right.

It said that the NIL contact was at Bryce's house and pitching his dad on being a Michigan man and all that shite and his dad said "I don't want to work anymore" and didn't care about the other shite, what's the offer. It also said there was a $12MM+ offer on the table compared to LSU's $5.2MM. The contact called it a total arms race and "pretty bleak". So even the winning side is like this sucks that we are here.

I laughed and said no way. Then the On3 story broke about a 10MM offer later that morning. Then here we are today and I have to eat crow with my buddy. I believed the development story and all that shite. Blinded by the P&G. Should have known that unless its an LSU kid or someone with LA roots, not to believe any story about anything but cash at this point, especially from a #1 recruit.

I don't think its the end of the world, but it sure does suck to be on the other side of a flip.

$12m peanuts for Michigan and their alum.

And they won't be like "this sucks" if they win a championship and have competent qb play for years

If you don't know Michigan people, they are like ND light in that they truly believe in the "Michigan Man" thing and that kids want to go there for the legacy. Trust me it hurts most of their Alum that they are having to pay kids, especially one 30 min away, to go to Michigan.

What sucks to me is how he kept reassuring it wasn’t about money and he was coming. I actually believed him.

Never again. I would respect him more had he not said anything or had he kept his word. However, why should he care, he got paid. Good for him. I hope Michigan has more terrible seasons ahead.

I don't blame him, he's 17 and college football coaches lie to the face of kids all the time in recruiting and will pull their offer with quickness if they can get a better player. It is what it is.

Hard agree. Had to live in Adrian for a time for work and those people get a raging boner over that "Michigan Man" business.

They also like to drink Verner's Ginger Ale, so they just might be congenitally insane. It's hard to tell.

I won't stand for slander of Verner's, its the best thing I've gotten from Michigan people

I kept thinking i will believe it when he signs. It's the nature of the game now and he had all the bargaining power.

I'm having Detroiters flashbacks right now.

But seriously, the weight of expectations that come with the kind of money they're throwing at this kid could be crushing. And unless Michigan has an incredible (better than what Saban had at Bama) support system built to keep everything on the rails, it's going to be very difficult. And their current coach doesn't have that type of handle on things.

Because it wasn’t about the money, until it was.

Come on.. everyone gets in their high horses and think they can’t be bought, until the money is so large that you literally can’t say no.

I truly believe Underwood really wanted to be here and be developed here. But.. when that large stash of cash becomes real, you simply can’t turn it down. I don’t blame him and his family one bit. We’d all do the same.

Giving parents a job and/or funneling money to the parents was the old school way of buying players before NIL.

That money will end up ruining his family if it hasn't already done so.

It will always be about the money, so just accept that. Oh and accept that kids lie... their parents are after what they could never have... and now these recruits will have an opportunity to be broke twice after they have become millionaires.

It was an Illinois alum who footed this bill though.
