Final trailer for the new show from the Love, Death and Robots creator. Really looking forward to the Warhammer 40k episode.

The first 8 episodes are out now, including the Warhammer episode.

Slightly unrelated, but Amazon greenlit the Warhammer series starring and executive produced by Henry Cavill today. He likes 40k just as much as The Witcher and he should have more creative control this time around.

I watched the first five episodes and the Warhammer, Unreal Tournament, and the Sifu episodes were my favorite. I didn’t know anything about Sifu but it was a great episode, even though it’s a short episode.

Used to play the hell out of that game.

Don’t really know what warhammer is but that episode was incredibly badass and if they’re making a show about it with the same tone of that, would be incredible.
The PAC Man one was nuts
Enjoyed the one with Arnold
Unreal Tournament was great too.

The Warhammer episodes was friggin awesome. If someone made a series off that alone I'd watch it and i have never even played the game.

I don’t even know what this is about, but based on the comments alone I’m in. I may not even watch the trailer. LD+R is awesome, so that’s just another reason that I’m in.
What the range on how long episodes last?

I went in having hardly seen anything either and they run from 15-25 minutes I feel like. All of them together basically have the runtime of a movie.

I feel like he likes The Witcher but LOVES 40k.
Warhammer has off the charts on-screen potential. One potential issue is that there are just SO many characters that if they try to give every faction some time in the spotlight they will spread themselves too thin. So I feel like you either have to focus on one squad fighting aliens, or you have to do the Heresy storyline and maybe focus on a couple of Primarchs from each "side" (Sanguinis, Guilliman, probably see a lot of Dorn too, definitely Magnus on the traitor side and probably Angron).

So it’s still short-ish episodes similar to LD+R. That’s what I was getting at. Cool, thanks. I may start this tonight actually depending on when I get home.

Horus Heresy would be badass, but there are so many characters and storylines, I think it would be tough for non fans to follow. Maybe focusing on a single loyal units fight against chaos during the heresy would be pretty legit. Throw in a few appearances by some of the primarchs along the way.

Yeah thats the issue, you either have to zoom WAY in on a few characters or zoom WAY out and do the Heresy. Because without the context of the heresy a lot of characters' actions and motivations won't make a lot of sense.
You can't really tell a story about Blood Angels or Iron Hands without the context of what happened to their Primarchs.
Fulgrim, Angron, Magnus/Ahriman, and Lorgar are interesting thematically because of what happened to them before, during, and after the heresy.... if you show them without showing the Heresy then they are just big bad demon dudes. Which I guess might be fine for wide audience, but I think the "fallen angels" type stories they have are what make them interesting. And Cavill + GW seem really intent on doing the universe justice.

I think showing the siege of Terra would be pretty dang cool
Like you said, it would be important to first show Horus and the other primarchs gradual fall to chaos

Looks cool but nothing like the game I played. Maybe I played a different version? Or I just didn’t pay a lot of attention to the plot of the game way back then (25 years ago? Ffs :/ )

Watched the first 6 last night. Thought it was pretty good. Warhammer was my favorite even though I saw the ending coming. Very well done. Didn't realize this was from the creators of LDR. Makes sense though.

That’s pretty cool. Just doing some quick research..is that Horus and the start of Horus Heresy?
Also saw one of the comments that said warhammer and event horizon are sort of similar and felt that was a great way to describe these short films. Everything seems so grim and everything is at stake.

That absolutely is not the Horus Heresy lol.
The Horus Hersey takes place 10,000 before 40k and is a giant crazy civil war about how the forward thinking atheist scientific state turned into a theological fscist state that is the imperium. 40k takes place in the aftermath, a broken galaxy with no hope.
40k is more biting satire. There are heroic people in it but as the saying goes, there are no good guys, just a bunch of factions trying to stop the inevitable.
I prefer 40k (and age of Sigmar FWIW) more than Horus Hersey IMO. Horus Hersey is much more superheroes like and it’s mainly big battles between space marines and your occasional group of demons. I feel justified in saying that having read like fricking 30 HH books and just finding them ok
40k as of right now has way more aliens and various weird stuff in it.
All of this obviously is in support of the tabletop wargames and miniature painting which I love to do. Even if you don’t play games, it’s very releasing and a good de-stresser to paint stuff up

It’s funny you mention the stress reduction qualities of miniature painting… that’s why I started doing it when I was an undergrad more than 30 years ago. Still works to this day.
