Just opened up last weekend in the old Nonna Mia space next door to Cafe Degas on Esplanade Ave. This place is getting serious serious buzz.

Brooks Reitz, who has several restaurants in Charleston including a James Beard winner, has opened this with his team.

They have done an absolutely amazing job with the reno from what I have seen. Looks really top notch, with a beautiful patio.

They call it a "neighborhood place with an English accent", but its clearly doing kind of an upscale British pub thing, with plays on some of those classics like a Fishmonger's Pie, some broiled oysters with british cheddar, a crispy fish sandwich instead of fish and chips.

One of their big focuses is perfect pints of Guinness. They also have frozen gin and tonics, as well as a variety of wines with a focus on English Sparkling Wines.

Cash free place, reservations for the actual dining room but they primarily focus on walkins, so you can walk in to the pub and patio any time.

If you check it out, let me know.

Not a good idea. At least offer both.

I don't head out that way very often, but the idea is intriguing. I'd give it a shot. Would be great if they open early for soccer games.

The menu looks legit. They aren't trying to be a classic british pub, its definitely a little more upscale than that while still being homey and casual.

Just from the pictures, it looks like the best poured Guinness I have seen in New Orleans, which isn't hard

I haven't been there yet so I don't even know if they have TVs.

They are open at 5 everyday except closed on Tuesdays. I don't think they are trying to be Finn McCool's

I live in the neighborhood and went to check it out. I’ll be shocked if it survives. Way too overpriced for what they offer. They also have some odd rules. Can’t order or eat food at the bar. Restaurant closes by 10pm on weekends. $23 for a fish sandwich. Good luck ! But, the renovation looks great and the beer selections are nice. My food was good, not great, for what they are charging.

The amount of buzz its getting and the pedigree behind it, its going to probably do fine. Getting early rave reviews.

I certainly hope it does well! That’s such a great location and nothing really has panned out there for quite some time. I’ll give it another try after the holidays.

It hasn't even been open a week yet. I really don't like going to places until they really find their footing.

I might go check out the patio and go get a pint since my wife and I go to Swirl usually once a weekend.

Don’t forget 1000 Figs…excellent area of town for strolling/biking around.

I’ll be interested in grabbing a Guinness on one of those cold 50-degree rainy days over Christmas break

Going to try and eat there on Sunday. Will report back. It's always hard to judge a place that's been open so little though

There are a lot of places around that pour Guinness “properly” lol. And there’s also debate if that’s just a marketing ploy anyway.

You sound like you’re drinking the Koolaid on this place for some reason

If it's a place with a "new" take on something, he's usually high on it.

If it's a traditional place or a place that hasn't done something "new" with their menu in a long time, he's usually down on it.

I don't know the guy, that's just how he always reacts on here over the years.

Interesting. I was not aware of this. Brooks is a great guy and knows how to run a restaurant. I wonder if Mike Lata is involved?

They have the guys involved in one of their insta stories.

Marcus Jacobs from Marjie’s Grill is working in the kitchen from what I understand.

Yeah. And he denied it, of course. But anyone who reads these forums for a few years and connects usernames to opinions would know better.
