Has this been discussed? Doing a rewatch in such a short time because it’s one of those series that haunts your head, and multilayered. Excellent quality.

I liked the stories about the Italians and the people in New Orleans, but the guys in Mexico were way-over-the-top silly.

If I remember correctly, the Mexico story pretty much mirrored the real life founding of the Los Zetas. First as an armed wing of the Gulf Cartel made up of former military members. Eventually they turned on their bosses.
I don't remember finding it silly, but as far as over the top goes the Zetas were known for their over the top violent antics and had an enormous impact on the cartel wars and the way they are fought, so that tracks.
