Don't fear Thune

Relax Thune is in an oil and gas rich state. He WILL NOT fight Trump on his agenda. His constituents will fire his arse in South Dakota should he fricks up. Trump and the conservatives will own Thune.

Richard Shelby represented one of the reddest of red states and was a thorn in Trump's side. Mitch McConnell and John McCain are from red states and have been steady problems.
When the globalist money doesn't like something Trump is doing, they'll jerk their strings and Thune will dance... along with a large amount of red state republicans in congress.

He's been in since 2005. His constituents won't do shite except vote for the guy with the R next to his name

That's North Dakota. I don't think South Dakota has much in the way of O&G.
They do get a lot of patriotic tourism though, so perhaps that can leverage him towards a MAGA agenda.

Exactly. Staunch red states have no excuse to have these people in the Senate either. These are the last places that should be running center-right establishment moderates.

Hopefully this means Little Marco is out of the running for SoS.

Thune is a typical Chamber of Commerce type with Neocon foreign policy leanings. Very comfortable with the Mitch McConnell crowd. Definitely not Trump’s agenda.

Sounds like you described Katie Britt here as well...

My bad, you are right. I should gave caught that. However Dakota is a red state. Should he buck Trump too much they will run a conservative against him. He may have an R by his name but they will be more loyal to Trump than him.

They have a good bit in the northwest and southwest corners of the state.

I think there is probably some truth to this.
I think there is a good chance Thune and the RINOs have no intention of standing in Trump's way, especially in the very near term, knowing Trump has a mandate and knowing none of them really have the credibility that Mitch had with the swamp elements yet.
Now in time that could change, but I think Trump and Co. can navigate this just fine.
