I know that non of us know what Woodward is thinking but, after last night, just a hypothetical; do you think anything is going on behind the scenes to fire Kelly or, will they just ride it out a few more years?
Posted on 11/10/24 at 11:47 am to GA Tiger
I think he is here two more years no matter what.

If we lose out this year, Kelly will 100% be on the hot seat going into next season

Unless Woodward can find 70 million in pocket change behind the sofa cushions, Kelly isn't going anywhere.

We have Kelly a couple more years at minimum, like it or not he's here.

We don't have the $ to pay that crazy buyout. He's got another 3 years after this one for sure.

Kelly is not getting fired anytime soon. It’s not even up for debate at this point

Kelly will be here next year for sure and barring a total collapse next fall...probably 2026 as well.
It's not just $60M...its the other $40-60m you would need to hire a top tier coach amd staff to replace him with.

agreed
this guarantee of 10 years for these coaches is killing the game just as much as Nil is. I don't mind the coaches getting paid, but a big part of their pay should be paid off of incentives.....and definitely no 10 year deals.

You good with Kelly?

Nah, last night sucked but you have to trust BK can bounce back, keep the great recruiting class together, and continue developing talent. Firing him now would set LSU back even further.

Kelly is owed $68 million AFTER this season
of the big HC hires three years ago
kelly 26-9

The hot seat?!?! Here is Kelly…”I’m here coaching for the next 7 years and making $70MM or you fire me and I’m on my couch and making $70MM.” How is that a hot seat?? He will NEVER be on the proverbial “hot seat” with the contract he has.

You gonna donate for the buyout
Posted on 11/10/24 at 11:54 am to Mandtgr47
Depends on the options. Who would we get?
Posted on 11/10/24 at 11:55 am to GA Tiger
LSU is not going to pay that kind of buyout for a coach who is winning 10 games a season and is bringing in the #2 ranked class in the country with the #1 QB in the country.
It would be negligent to fire a coach after going 10-3 his first three seasons after inheriting a dumpster fire.
It would be grossly negligent to fire a coach who is 10-3 and is bringing in better talent year after year including the #2 ranked class in the country with the #1 QB in the country.
It would take malice aforethought to fire that coach under those circumstances and pay him a $60+ million buyout.

He will have at least 5 years and I support that. This season is still not lost. I'm more worried about next year actually.
Year 5 will be Kelly's make or break season.
If anything, I think Kelly would resign before he is fired. I think he saw that Les Miles and Ed Orgeron won a Championship here, so he thought it would be pretty easy - especially after his first season. Then last year, he had a Heisman Trophy winner.
This is the first year I think he realizes that he can't just blow a whistle and the team is prepared and ready to go at LSU.

Doesn’t matter if Woody wants to fire him or not.
His contract makes him untouchable for minimum of 3 more years.
So BK either turns it around with the 25 recruiting class or we are stuck in a rut for at least 4-6 more years
