What an odd choice

EXCLUSIVE: Lucasfilm has closed a deal with Simon Kinberg to develop a trilogy of Star Wars films. Kinberg will write the trio, and produce them with Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy
I heard this will comprise episodes 10-12 of The Skywalker Saga that began with George Lucas’s 1977 first film that along with Steven Spielberg’s Jaws reshaped the global blockbuster game. Insiders disputed my intel that Kinberg will continue that storyline, saying this will instead begin a new saga and sits alongside Star Wars percolating projects with James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi, and Donald Glover. As usual, Lucasfilm and Disney are not commenting.
He has also been heavily involved in other franchises as writer and/or producer. That includes a decade spent on the X-Men films and the Logan spinoff film that starred Hugh Jackman and was directed by James Mangold. He was also producer of the first two Deadpool films, and exec producer of the 2024 blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine; he produced the Ridley Scott-directed The Martian, and has scripted such films as Mr & Mrs Smith and co-wrote the film that launched the Sherlock Holmes franchise with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, and he produced the Kenneth Branagh Agatha Christie film trilogy that started with Murder on the Orient Express. In short, he’s comfortable in the franchise sphere.

So they're going to ruin Starwars more than they already have?
Posted on 11/7/24 at 11:12 am to RLDSC FAN
They've made deals on like 8 trilogies that haven't happened and never will.
Kinberg has been involved in some pretty entertaining stuff and stuff not so great, I think he could do it.
But I will believe nothing until I see it, and I won't get excited until I see it for myself

I mean I enjoyed most of the projects he was involved in.

I'm fine with him as a producer, but writing the stories is concerning

My concern is his writing. He wrote X-Men apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. Basically killed that franchise

Hey man
He did some script revisions on Catwoman

Ahh. Gotcha. Yeah those movies sucked

He did also write Days of Future Past, which is fun.
He was a script consultant on tFA, so the relationship is already there I guess

unless Disney kicks this count to he curb and gives it to Filoni and Favreau - I'm out. she has proven time and again she has no consideration of what the fans truly want, and if Disney wants to keep pissing away money and alienating the fanbase, then I am out on SW.

Just fricking make KOTOR. Give the people what they want!

Star Wars is so stale and uninteresting now. Only things that have held my attention over the last few years is Mandalorian (first season and a half), Andor, and Bad Batch. Not saying this guy will be good, but bringing in different is the way to go.

Last I heard he was still making the Jedi origins movie set thousands of years before anything we have seen.

If you haven’t watched Rebels, I would add that to your list. It’s a bit of a slow start but season 2 is some of the best Star Wars out there.

Also Sherlock Holmes
but yeah, i'd rather someone else do the writing and Simon do the producing.

I just don’t want a continuation of the Skwalker saga.
Imagine Luke getting 3 real movies but getting 6 with Rey.

Cool. Should be fun and awesome with her attached at the hip to it. Can't wait.
Let's see what Disney's new plan is of turning a franchise that should be able to print money into a money pit that lives constantly in the red.

LOL. The guy that killed X-Men is going to revive a Star Wars franchise that is already dead with the help of the count that killed it.
