Going to Shreveport in March for a concert with the family (wife and kids 13 and 9). Best bet for family meal? Somewhere between McDonalds and the Horseshoe Casino. Oh and no buffets please.

What say you?

I'm guessing it's at the CenturyTell Center. I would go somewhere on Youree Dr to eat beforehand.

Cantina Laredo
Monjuni's
Carrabba's
Maccaroni Grill
There's a couple of new steak places that just opened up.

I remember locals bragging about Murphy's but I was not particularly impressed.

Strawns is good.

Herby K's is better. (shrimp buster is a must)

Bistro Byronz is open across from the Superior Grill on Line.

Monjunis Italian (the best one is on Louisiana St.)

I like Nikki's Mexican if you're taking the family.

Strawns is a good one. They are famous for their pies. They have homestyle food and also burgers and chicken for the kids. Its really a great place. I took a girlfriend there one time and we had a piece of pie for desert and when I went up to the register I told the guy who happened to be the owner that we also had a slice of pie and she didn't put it on there. He just says, "oh ok, don't worry about it." You don't find places like that anymore

Yeah definitely Strawn's if you feel like a good homecooked meal. And of course a slice of pie afterwards

Italian- Monjuni's- there is one on the corner of Youree and Industrial loop next to gatti's. 5 minutes from Centurytel

Mexican- Trejos (s'port-Barksdale hwy is best, get the Foster's special) And it's about 5 minutes from the Centurytel. Right in front of the base

Diner- Strawns

One of the biggest problems with shreveport is the lack of local eateries, the chains have wiped some out.

Food not as good, but the beer is right on. Only place I know of in The Port that has the Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy.

Herby K's!!!!!

You just gotta go there. Nothing against Strawns, but it's just a diner. Great for breakfast, but if you want a meal you'll remember, Herby K's is your best bet (in the world).

Herby K's
